Just for kicks, this is the same judge who found a man not guilty of molesting his daughter and got then overturned for making an error in law for relying on myths and stereotypes around the behaviour of sexual assault victims

Can't wait to hear him guest speak at the touring Naturopathy conferences again.

I think it sucks the kid got this sick before they decided to take him to the hospital. But when you die in an ambulance because there is no way to get o2 into you, that's a huge fail for EMS. I'm surprised more people aren't upset about that.

Maybe, but none of this happens if they take him to a hospital long before it got to that point.

Or, you know, get the ####ing vaccine for meningitis so none of this has a chance of happening in the first place.

Viral Meningitis can be treated, they never gave anyone a chance to, he was probably too far gone by the time they got him to the ambulance.
To me, they murdered their boy.

The only justice now is that they both get meningitis and try treating it with parsley and old spice.

The vaccine is for bacterial Meningitis. Which actually carries a much higher risk of death than Viral Meningitis. There is not a vaccine for Viral Meningitis.

Don't be speaking ill about old spice, its a miracle cure.
Its also extremely effective as a gas line additive in winter, it makes your car look like the bat mobile.
The cool 60's batmobile with the flaming tailpipe.

You properly treat the symptoms of viral meningitis and monitor and treat brain swelling and the body can rally.
You don't feed your kid garlic and dried cat poop
But frankly the Stephan's not only believed in their garbage but they marketed cures for serious mental health issues.
They're terrible people and should be shunned by rational people.

I don't know a lot about it, but I would suspect his chances for survival would be much higher in a hospital, with 24 hour expert care than it would be at home being treated with witchcraft. So I'm not sure I agree with the judge. Yes, he could have still died, but his odds would have improved dramatically if he had been seen by a doctor earlier on.

I would hope most people agree with this statement. I do.
However, I now understand why they were acquitted. It’s unfortunate they were handed this out card. Both sides with inexcusable errors.

I've had viral meningitis before. While ####ty the docs and nurses didn't seem all that concerned once I was in the hospital and getting treated. They were more concerned with my family catching it as its contagious. 3 days in the hospital I think.
Also: I would not wish it upon anyone. Just awful.

Brought their boy to the brink with sheer negligence, and a ill equipt health system doesn't have all the tricks to bring him back.
Not Guilty Technically. What a farce.

So the official cause of death is bacterial meningitis, but the former chief medical officer "does not believe" it was (based on, I assume, just written records, and against the account of the examining officer saying it was bacterial and there was no evidence that lack of oxygen played a part), and this half-assed testimony was enough to swing a judge?
Oh it's this guy....that explains it....

My wife had viral meningitis a few years ago and is alive because I got her to the hospital as soon as we realized it was more than the flu. It was pretty obvious actually. Their son died because they failed him when he needed them the most. Judge may have let them off on a technicality but that doesn't make them innocent. Can the Crown appeal this decision?.

Regardless of the legality, I still feel ill when I think that these two parents let their child get to this point and still believe they made the right choice for their child and accept no responsibility for his death. That I can tell, anyways.
