its a one year deal; if Mangiapane is worth 1M + he'll be able to cash in on his next contract...
Glad that BT didn't soften his stance too... i like the kid, but he had 13 pts last year: it would have been silly to hold out based on his production/history
It's crazy how great the top level guys' contracts areo (Monahan Gaudreau, lindholm, Backlund, Giordano, Brodie, hamonic, hanafin ), yet the flames are still cap strapped.
Yep Gaudreau, Monahan and Lindholm are all good contracts, but can't compare to the Marner situation. Different players, signed at different times.
Not that I think Dubas is a good GM. He doesn't seem to be.
Anyway let's see what happens with Tkachuk.
Different times is the big one. Johnny gets 10+ all day in today’s RFA market. Calgary is lucky these wild contracts didn’t fly until after they got two franchise players locked.
This isn't the Oilers, you don't get extra dough just for the sake of player pleasing. Tre is hard but fair, and the contract drawn up is always within the team model that keeps them competitive. The same will go for Tkachuk.

Mangi did Treliving a big favor. Mangiapane was do this for the team in good faith for a better RFA contract from the Flames next year.
How? By signing his contract?
The only favour Mangipane extended was to himself with this decision. The kid needs to be in camp, and he needs to play this year. Now he gets the chance to show the team what he is worth.

Different times, but Treliving has stuck to the same philosophy throughout IMO. The fact RFAs like Marner have walked their way to bigger contracts is on a couple particular GMs.
Yeah, at the end of the day it is less if a cave and more common sense kicked in. His agent tried and ended up coming to the conclusion they weren't going to win this battle. At least he missed fitness day.
