Wow. The entire first line demoted to second line and the second line demoted to fourth!!
Seriously, Mangiapane should be watching DSP, Dube and Czarnik pretty carefully.
This is Bennett's big chance to show something while Tkachuk is still away.

Honestly, it should be a big opportunity for Mangiapane here too. With Tkachuk away, he could have put himself in a great position.

Mangiapane is getting terrible advice. If his career fails, he can look back on this negotiation and sue his agent. This is his big opportunity and he’s already behind the pack. All over an insignificant amount of money.

Yup.
If this is about his contract value then it's not worth arguing about the $200k when it can derail a breakout season in your career.
If this is about a 2 way vs. 1 way contract then that's just foolish too. Be on yourself that you've proven you're an NHLer, and earn the top 9 role on the team that may be available to you.
Instead now he's opened the doors for others to take his spot.
Just idiotic advice from his agent/advisers.

I'd really like to see Rieder given some time with Lucic and Ryan

I'm all for players getting what they're worth but Mangiapane has zero leverage. He's an absolute moron if he misses a second of training camp. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot before your career even begins.

Its not exactly earth shattering I guess, but that Jankowski Line reads to me like the forth line, but maybe that's because Czarnik is on there. I think its interesting because it doesn't seem like any guy is being used as a placeholder for Tkachuck or Mangiapane. With those guys in, its a bit of a reshuffle, especially if you are planning on trying Lindholm as Center. I would like to see some reps of this at camp, assuming guys get signed in time.
Gaudreau Monahan Dube
Bennett Lindholm Mangiapane
Tkachuk Backlund Frolik
Lucic Ryan Jankowski
Smith-Pelley, Czarnik
It gives Bennett some good line mates and the team a second scoring line, keeps 3M together as a proper "3rd" shutdown line that can score (which maybe pacifies Frolik a bit), and a forth line that I think could be a possession monster. It would be big shoes for Dube to fill on the top unit, but I think he would be well equipped to follow Johnny and Monny's lead. Also, I don't know a ton about DSP, but if you wanted to swap him and Jankowski, I'm pretty good with that.
Czarnik seems expendable to me.

I like seeing Lucic with Ryan. Would like to see either Mangiapane or Dube on the left side with them. Would be a good 2-way, line.

The question always seems to be: where does Bennett fit?
If Frolik is on Backlund's line, how about:
Bennett - Jankowski - Dube
Mangiapane - Ryan - Lucic
If Bennett works his way onto Backlund's line, and assuming Frolik is gone:
Dube - Jankowski - Smith-Pelly/Czarnik
Mangiapane - Ryan - Lucic

Me too, and what makes this odd... is I'd take Treliving's side in understanding the value of a player like AM. He fits a need on this team that the Flames brass identifies, and they have a price they're willing to pay for it.
What him and his agent aren't seeing in this situation is concerning. I actually want to reach out to AM personally as I'm worried about this poor kids future. He worked so ####ing hard to get here, I was JACKED to see him make that push - but that'll be Dube's spot in a few weeks

Francis reporting Mangiapane asking $850k/1yr, dropping his original ask.
How is this not done?

My guess is if he already is dropping his ask today then it gets done over the weekend.
Can tell he's not going to want to miss camp. Treliving also needs to not be stubborn here and can't just offer the Qualifying offer.

Whatever Treliving has been doing in negotiations with his own pending Free Agents, he should continue to do it. It has been working out sensationally for the team so far.

I don't think he needs to go far but I think it does help long term with player negotiations to at least come off that initial stance.
Even if he just goes up to $750k. Just something so negotiations don't stall out here.
