My wife has been watching this show Fleabag.
It's definitely directed more at women, but after watching a few episodes with her, I think it's amazing.
Worth a watch for sure.

^^^Phoebe Waller-Bridges is my favorite film/tv writer at the moment. She also wrote a bunch of stuff for Killing Eve and I think I heard she's writing the next bond film. She has a knack for humor in otherwise dark or uncomfortable scenarios. Could be great.

Good god the Boys keeps getting better and better.
I knew nothing of the comics and after episodes 4 and 5 when #### got super ####ed up I kept thinking it had a Garth Ennis vibe to it. Lo and behold I check and of course the comics were created and written by Ennis.
Preacher and his run on Punisher Max are two of my all time fave comics. I like the Preacher tv show but goddamn I wish it was made more like the Boys.

All the BTK scenes were absolutely incredible, especially the opening scene in the first episode. The attention to detail is impressive.

I think even Amazon Prime has it's limits because i'm sure there are a few story lines they won't/can't even follow coming up.

I need a new TV series to get into (old or new) v2
I’ve been watching Trust (about the Getty’s) on Hulu. It’s okay. One scene made me cry and it’s got nothing to do with humans, or even a real dog (I think it may have been a story about a childhood pet). I am such a weirdo.

Carnival Row was ok. Seemed like a bit of a GoT wannabe but was generally enjoyable. It was unnecessarily gory and had to fair share of gratuitous nudity, which isn’t bad but felt a bit out of place. Would have worked better without I think. I liked the cast.

It's really too too bad that PG13 AMC got Preacher and not HBO or Amazon.
Y the Last man is currently filming for FX right now. Hopefully they do it right. I liked that graphic better than Preacher or The Boys!
|
I’m fully preparing for Y to have to deal with a #### ton of controversy for being a show focused on a man in a world full of women.

I have been rewatching Breaking Bad. Digesting a few episodes a week. Just a fantastic piece of television that came at the exact right time. Almost half way through the series again and finding things I missed the first time around here and there. Really enjoying it

Not sure if this belongs here, but has anyone checked out HBOs Euphoria? I remember hearing about the controversy earlier this summer, but didn’t pay much attention to it as teen dramas aren’t my thing. My daughter had her 17th birthday last weekend and had some of her friends over. I overheard a few of them talking about it, so I decided to skim through a few episodes. For a seemingly teen series, I was quite surprised at the graphic nudity it showed.

I finally have Crave so I started watching True Detective. I know most everyone loved the first season but I’m really struggling to get into it. Did anyone find it really slow to start?

HBO's Succession is really good.
Its a story about a media mogul and his dysfunctional family.

You know that it's based on Rupert Murdoch and his family, yes? Many of the major plot points are taken from numerous reports of how his family members are positioning themselves to take over when he dies.

It's a bit of a slow watch with starts and stops throughout. However, it does eventually really ramp up towards the end, including an amazing 6 minute single take shot in the 4th episode.
I really dug the dialogue and the storytelling so the pace didn't seem noticeably slow to me.

It’s a good show, loaded with dark comedy.
I’m saving up season 2 episodes so I can watch entire season over 2 or 3 weeks.

I agree with all that and liked it a lot at the time. But I don't think there is anyway I could re-watch that season now. Matthew Mcconaughey's non-stop running Buick commercials have completely ruined his schtick for me.

Maybe it's his voice and how slow he talks, it just makes me crazy, not sure I can continue. I realize it's a very specific character I just don't care for him/this role.

At least it's good to know that Ford is getting their money's worth and you remembered which brand he's advertising.

His Lincoln ones are even worse.
