Never forget that Djokovic had 3 walkovers/retirements on the way to the 2016 US Open finals and still lost. At the end of the day you still have to win your matches.

You can only play who's across the net from you. Not Nadal's fault everyone in his half got upset. He still has to win 2 more matches and Medvedev is top 5 in the world right now if he gets to the finals.

I just enjoy the irony of years of Nadal fans saying many of Roger's majors didn't count because the fields were weak now have to defend majors like this. At least Roger was beating top 5 and 10 players in those "weak" fields. Like more than possibly one even!

I enjoy the irony that initially Nadal fans were saying the grand slam total didn't matter because Nadal had a better H2H against Federer he was the better player. With Federer turning that around (outside of clay) in 5 years it will be Federer fans saying the grand slam total doesn't matter if Nadal gets more than him.

To get back on the topic of Bianca, it is interesting that the US Open women's final is going head-to-head against the Banjo Bowl. TSN4 will have the tennis while TSN1, 3, and 5 are showing the CFL game.

I dont know how the WTA schedule goes, but she is currently 4th in the year race, is there any chance she can get world #1 this year?

Assuming the WTA website hasn't updated anyone since the start of the US Open, Ash Barty will be just under 5500 points for the calendar year. Bianca will be just over 4000 if she loses tomorrow, and at about 4700 if she wins.

There's a ton of time and points yet up for grabs before the finals with a 1000 point tournament, a 900 point tournament and three 470 point tournaments still on the calendar.

And for the tour ranking, if Bianca wins tomorrow, she will be 5th in the world, 11 points behind Osaka.

This is truly impressive (in a macabre way) from Medvedev, he might end up with 30 more errors than winners and still win in straights.
