Nope. Can't consolidate. No sustained energy.
You'd seriously think she has food poisoning or something.

So I’ve noticed Bianca only uses one ball on serve and doesn’t do that ball under the skirt thing. Is this unusual?

This is a match where Bianca is gonna beat herself. Mertens is not going to make mistakes; Bibi is making all of them.

It's more than that though. Mertens isn't playing anti-tennis. She's driving forehands deep, moving the ball around and making Bianca run, she's moving in, she's pinpoint with her serve... this is the sort of tennis that you rarely see on the women's side. She looks like a complete, mature player; Bianca looks like a teenager who's tired and upset things aren't going her way. Which is weird, because usually she's super intense.

Over the past two or three games she's made basically all the shots she was missing earlier, and Mertens isn't making the shots she was painting lines with earlier. Basically, natural talent is carrying her, but her body language and energy is still terrible. I really hope she figures it out and fires up for a third set.
She's also sweating a ton, it must be absolutely baking in there.

True. That expands that each point will have to be earned. Gotta give Mertens credit since she was making good shots and avoiding bad ones.
Bianca though has gained control of this set at least, and is making less bad shots. Good to see since she looked really lethargic and wasn't going to recover.

There we go. As long as Mertens doesn't figure out her serve again, this third set has to favour Bianca, whether she's engaged or not she's clearly a more talented player overall.

Did Bianca just tap her racket before that serve on game point? If so that's pretty greasy.

Mertens holds at love. Big service game here for Bianca. I just have a bad feeling that there's a soft spot here...
EDIT: A bit tense getting behind in the game with some risky close shots and a double fault, but managed to right the ship. Gotta get back on the pressure now.

YES. That inside out backhand she's hit I think three times in this match is basically an instant point win. Very tough to defend and you don't need to hit a line with it for it to be devastating. Follows it up with a strong flat forehand winner down the line. This is a big moment.
EDIT: Another big opportunity missed.

Would be nice if Bibi could convert on a break in this set. Has had chances, but couldn't bank them.
