Brazil is famous for being flashy and offensive but they only win tournaments when they are defensively sound.

This is true! The last tournament editions of Brazil have been extremely good defensively. Brazil learned lessons from 2014, even last World Cup they very strong on defence. When Casemiro is in the team they are one of the toughest teams in the world to break down and he really is critical for Brazil. Silva and Dani Alves both still going strong, which will make the selection over the coming years very interesting. Dani Alves winning player of the tournament at 36 at RB is pretty remarkable, even tho Jesus or Everton May of deserved it over him.

I think this tournament will be a great stepping stone for the whole team as they clearly do not need Neymar to be elite and proved that others can step up in big moments.

Yes very impressive game and great skill by both teams, but in particular the Brazilians. An exceptional example of how the game should be played.

And on a night when the USWNT wins the Women's World Cup the USMNT loses the Gold Cup.

I wonder who watched.

Equatorial Guinea so close to snatching an upset victory over South Sudan and once again Burundi (Go Swallows!) fail to record a win against age-old rivals Tanzania!

if you can't get excited about matches between teams ranked at 135 and beyond then the terrorists have won.

Speaking of heavyweights and terrorism, I didn't realize Pakistan is ranked below both those teams. Maybe a little more time on the pitch and less on jihad?

Australia’s first qualifier is against Nepal. I was shocked Nepal has a team and that they were good enough to make the second round. Isn’t their country all mountains? Where are they finding any flat space for soccer?

With Canada losing to the poorest country in the Western hemisphere, after ahead by 2 goals, a country that hasn't had a Prime Minister for 5 months and cholera is still a national epidemic, I'm not casting any stones.

Germany vs. Netherlands is going to be interesting.

Ryan Babel draws back into the Dutch squad, Daley Blind somehow is still playing for Holland, but these are very different looking teams.

That said, the German defense isnt nearly as strong as it used to be, but neither is the Dutch attack and vice versa.

I imagine a fairly low-scoring affair.

Belgium, the world's #1 ranked team, needing 43 minutes (and a penalty) to score against San Marino, should maybe result in automatic disqualification from Euro 2020.
