Who would win an Inter-provincial Tournament.
There was an Athletic article highlighting just how good teams from each province would be. There is one for
Ontario
https://theathletic.com/1101669/2019...and-provinces/
British Columbia
https://theathletic.com/1093266/2019...tish-columbia/
Quebec
https://theathletic.com/1098271/2019...g-team-quebec/
So I figured that I should make one for Alberta, a few things to note first, this list is based on place of birth to keep things simple, as such a guy like Dube who was born in BC isn't included where as a guy like Nylander is. It also only includes active players.
Team Alberta
Jake DeBrusk - Brayden Point - Taylor Hall
Tyson Jost- William Nylander - Brendan Gallagher
Austin Wagner- Bryan Little - Sam Steel
Jay Beagle - Carter Rowney- Riley Nash
Patrick Eaves - Ty Rattie
Jared Spurgeon - Colton Parayko
Josh Morrissey - Mike Green
Jay Bouwmeester - Cale Makar
Deryk Engelland
Carter Hart
Aaron Dell

I'd have to imagine team Ontario would be fairly stacked, but Alberta's work ethic couldn't be matched.

Good point, I was only using last years regular season stats. My subconscious wants to forget the playoffs I guess.

Nylander on Alberta seems like a bit of a reach haha
But I get that they used birthplace to make it easier. Just doesn’t seem right considering he straight up represents a different COUNTRY

Holtby would be Alberta's starter. He's from Lloyd.

Its based on place of birth, if it were based on where people were raised it gets too tricky, lots of people move, lots of players leave at a young age to play hockey ect... but yeah, its a reach.

The Saskatchewan side though. I believe he grew up outside of Lloyd in Saskatchewan.

To keep things more even I'd do WHL, OHL, QMJHL territory tourney. Wherever you were eligible to play at 15 is the team you'd be on. Without that Ontario would be tough to beat.
Hall would play OHL, Nylander would be ineligible. Crosby with QMJHL.

Interesting idea. Ontario, Quebec and BC have a massive advantage but it would always be fun to cheer for Alberta as an underdog.
My proposal would be four Canadian teams divided between WHL, OHL, QMJHL, and NCAA alumni. This makes teams as even as possible and clears up awkward situations where a player has moved provinces at a young age. You could even use a short tournament as try out for the Canadian Olympic/World Cup teams
