Well that sucks, but what can you do. Serena probably doesn’t want to push it with the US Open so close.

It was a quick turnaround for Serena from last night's match and Bouzkova really pushed Serena in that match, you wonder if Serena was still feeling the effects from playing last night.

Aside from winning the title, it's great to see that the shoulder appears to be healed. Playing as much tennis as Bianca did this week on consecutive days was a real test and the shoulder seems to have come through just fine.

In scraping for positives, I’m relieved that Bianca didn’t accumulate more wear and tear on her body today, potentially affecting a USO run. A few more long matches and she might have started to resemble a mummy with all that athletic tape.

I was just thinking that, too. And she was able to see how far she really could push herself after such a lengthy injury hiatus. She faced different scenarios: three-setters, groin trouble, home court pressure/home court advantage.

It's a scheduling issue. These events are too tightly packed. I mean Monfils got screwed by rain at 9pm.

Cant have someone play a semifinal at 6pm then turn around and play a final at 1:30 the next day.

The irony is that as far as the women are concerned, you get more rest and recovery during a grand slam tourney than you do at one of these high level WTA premier events while still playing best 2-out-of-3 sets.

Wow that is the winner’s speech of a 10+ year veteran, not a teenager just breaking through...very impressive

Looking forward to Cincinnati now - We were denied a Felix - Zverev match in Montreal, but if Felix can win his opening round match versus a yet to be determined qualifier, he will take on Zverev in Cincy.

Rafa was just relentless today and wins his 5th Rogers Cup, losing only 2 more games than Bianca .....and he for the first time defends a hard court title. One of the all time greats on all surfaces

14th seed means one less round, correct?

sorry this isn't very timely, but just got around to sorting through some summer vacation pics. entered the Wimbledon lottery this year and as expected, did not win. decided though to go to Europe anyways and try the famous Queue on the way back home. here's a preview of what your experience might be like if you find yourself in London some weekend in July...

Spoiler!

in conclusion, definitely an experience every dedicated tennis fan will want to try at least once, but I'm really hoping my lottery entry next year allows me to see SW19 in a slightly more relaxed manner.

When I went there were people queued up on Saturday for the Wednesday session (shocker, they were Fed fans) since you can in fact line up for QF tickets, it's the last day you are eligible to queue for face value tickets. They are very proud of their queuing abilities over there. It's also crazy to me that you were 9000 at 6am because when I went I was ~2500 at around 430 am. Didn't seem to me that nearly 7000 more people were behind me by 6am, but then again I was probably barely awake at that point. I like that you're allowed to bring in a couple drinks before you get gouged.

Also did you try and hit up the resale line? That to me was the best part since for next to nothing you can at least experience a show court (I decided to see Genie play on 2 rather than go to Centre for whatever reason lol).

when did you go? I was checking the online resale site in the days leading up to my visit, but it was like trying to get through Ticketmaster, nothing was happening. I knew about the resale line on the grounds, but by the time I got in, I was just kinda all queued out and wanted to wander around as much as possible. you probably got in much earlier and had the stamina to do a bit more waiting.
