If you are really concerned about asking her out at work for fear of getting her in trouble with her boss or seeming insincere or whatnot, wait for her to get off work and ask her then. Bottom line though, if you like her and you think she likes you then just ask.

You wouldn't be creeped out if some guy hung out outside of your work to ask you out after you got off. If I was a girl in that situation I might call the cops...

I say ask her out, unless like others have said there is some weird situation/setting - e.g. like Eastern Girl has said.
That is, unless it is someone on CP

Fine then.. Lifeguard at a pool I frequent, I was hoping the analogy, would spring some similar analogies and I wouldn't have to be so specific

Ha well thats no biggie!
Why not, ask her out. Unless you think doing that may make your time or her time more awkward at the pool. At the very least, if things don't work out, you go and find a new pool to swim at....and new lifeguards, too !

How the hell did you get married?
Funny/Creepy story from a friend. He had no fear asking girls out - would do it all the time regardless of the situation. For instance he was behind a girl in line at Safeways, when she gave her phone number for the Safeway Club thingy, he remembered it and called her when he got home and said "hey I'm the guy that was behind you in Safeway...wanna go out".
Now maybe its just me, but does that not strike you as a little creepy? Partculalry since they didn't even talk at Safeway.
And the girl said yes.
So what do I know.

One thing to keep in mind; if she's a lifegaurd she might be working without her wedding ring on. Are you sure she is single?

Who cares? That's just something more to worry about. Hopefully if she's married she'll let him know. He already said he's not worried about being shot down.

She's pretty young, and in school, so odds are in my favour, however if answer comes back as "married" that'd be the best shut down, not akward, not insulting etc.
Actually maybe if she said she was gay, that'd be pretty awesome too!

Naw. At the time my friend was about 25/26 and turns out the girl had just turned 18.
Which I realize only adds to the creepy value of the story.

Well, again, it depends. If you have spoken to this girl and she knows who you are, I wouldn't necessarily consider it creepy. He could casually ask her when she gets off work and come back then. He could even say to her that he didn't want to put her in an awkward situation at work, so he waited til she was off. I am sure she would appreciate that. It's thoughtful and honest. Girls like that.

Yeah that is pretty creepy. I hooked up with this chick over a year ago at a bar (mind you legal drinking age in Texas is 21), found out from another girl I dated that's friends with her that she just turned 19 which means that I messed around with a girl who just turned 18 or worse was 17. But it can't be really that creepy if she presented herself as at least 21, right?...right?

To difficult! Logistically, populated area, hanging around would be weird, then they might not leave right as building closes, then do you wait outside? Then they wander out with someone... Then you have two people to choke out with "ether"

Just ask. You are making it far more complicated than it needs to be. If you really would like to have some privacy, find our when she starts, not when she gets off, and show up for your swim about that time.
I think the creepy factor only comes in if you wear a Speedo for your swim. Otherwise, just ask. Make it casual - like coffee or lunch for a first date, and then if she says no thank you, it's no biggie.
