I'm going to go out on a limb and say either Tsitsipas, Wawrinka or Thiem will win the US Open.

You a gambling man? What odds would you put money down on for those 3 collectively vs the field?

Leylah Annie Fernandez completes the sweep as she takes the women's singles crown over Carson Branstine 3-6 6-1 6-2 - Keep an eye on this 16 year old phenom in the years to follow.

Pretty big mistake by Bianca's team playing at the French Open - Contrast this to Felix who bypassed Roland Garros to recover from his injury at the previous event he played.

Peak Rafa right here the speed is just insane
2008 he would win Roland Garros, Wimbledon and Olympic gold all in a row all on different surfaces. 2008 Rafa was on a whole nother level.

16 year old Leylah Annie Fernandez just knocked off top seed Nao Hibino 6-3 7-6(4) at the ITF women's challenger event in Granby, Quebec. The 24 year old Hibino is currently ranked #135 in the world, but she was ranked as high as 56 three years ago.

Three Canadian women in the semi-finals at the ITF event in Granby, Quebec and we are guaranteed a Canadian playing for the title as Leylah Annie Fernandez faces Francoise Abanda in one of the semi-finals. Katherine Sebov plays an Aussie in the other semi-final.

I'm in awe of what Leylah is doing. I caught a bit of her semi-final versus Francoise, and she has incredible poise. It's pretty exciting to think of her future.

If Leylah can win the final tomorrow, she would have jumped about 150 ranking spots over the last couple of weeks.

Sunday tennis news update - Leylah Annie Fernandez loses in the final in Granby, but a terrific couple of weeks of tennis for the 16 year old. And Brayden Schnur will be joining Milos and Felix in Washington for the Citi Open tourney this week...

I don't know about you guys, but this stretch leading up to the US Open is my favourite tennis time of the year.

Yup, it's a great time for tennis, that's for sure. I was out at my local court earlier today just banging some balls against the wall when a guy I had never met before showed up and we had a great 40 minute session just rallying. Hit a couple of Shapo-lovian one handed backhand cross-court winners that made me feel good (of course I'm a righty). Also, on Wednesday, August 14th, I'm taking the day off work to go watch some tennis at the Hollyburn Club in West Vancouver at the Odlum Brown Open. Hoping to catch Rebecca Marino and Brayden Schnur in action.
