I see guys like Benett, dube, mang all having to be exposed. Maybe none of them go off,. If one does it would be a shane to have to expose them for lucic.

He fought twice last year I think. And if opposing players are willing to hit his teammates from behind he is not much of a deterrent

Lol always love the babies throwing a hissy fit over a transaction before it even plays out on the ice.
We traded one older over paid under performing winger for another.
Big whoop
It's not like he dealt picks or prospects for him.

We are also getting a guy who has played basically a full season for 9 straight seasons (including the half season due to lockout) while averaging 230 hits a year over the past 6 seasons. We finally have a tank and it cost us a player who was pouting and a distraction in the locker room. Lucic was also a 50 to 60 point player in 5 of those 9 straight near all games played seasons only missing out on 50 points during the half season, a 44 point final campaign in Boston and the previous two recent train wreck seasons in Edmonton.
Is he going to score 50 points again?? Most likely not but 35-40 points I think could be doable and without a doubt we are going to get a guy ready to go to battle for his team and punish the opposing team to the tune of 200+ hits. There are aspects of this trade that are hard to stomach without a doubt but it’s not all that bad the more I logically think about it.

Treliving went full Sutter.
Awful awful awful trade. I'd say he should be fired for this but he just saved the flames $7 million real dollars so ownership is probably happy even though this team is worse off from a contract standpoint, and a wash at talent.

The World: that Lucic contract is untradeable, worst in the league.
Treliving: Hold my beer

Nothing to make you wanna abandon ship more than when your GM makes a lateral boat anchor depth trade on a 2nd overall NHL team.
Sky is ####ing falling. Fire everyone.

Let's get one thing straight, the Neal signing is what actually hurt, not this. Because we essentially gave up 5+ mil that day that we weren't going to get back for several years, whether the boat anchor vet eating the cap hit was changed or not.

Yep the series of events here was the Brouwer signing, the Brouwer buyout, the Neal signing and now this trade.
This trade is the least of these mistakes.
If we just left Brouwer on the team last year this wouldn’t have been necessary and we wouldn’t be in the cap trouble we are now either.

Draft Pick

This place is out of control. He traded a unpredictable fwd for an aging vet who will add immediate size and toughness. This is something that the organization needed to address. Currently, both players futures are "fingers crossed" and hoping for the best. At the very least Lucic will increase hits, add physicality, and his presence will give every other flames more confidence.

Watch Neal pot 35 off McDavids wing and let’s revisit this thread.
Massive failure on behalf of Treliving, unless, there is something regarding the Neal situation that is not disclosed (unhappy, health, team chemistry).
I expected Neal to be worth more, he’s only one season removed from 25 goals and consecutive play off success. I’m assuming Tre knows better than me though. Still looks like a #### deal.

Maybe the flames suddenly find a GEM in the 3rd round...god knows that the Oilers havnt produced a 3rd round bonafied NHL player in over 20 years.
Since 2010 so far its:
2013 Bogdan Yakimov --> 1 GP 0P
2013 Anton Slepychev -->102 GP 24P
2012 Jujhar Khaira -->152 GP 42P
Thats 243 games and 47 points out of a total of 13 picks. 10 of those picks never played games.
Lets turn our 4th round luck into some sweet sweet 3rd round SUPERMODEL

I have a feeling our team is going to be worse than last year, but we'll see. (And I don't just mean worse in the regular season standings, that's extremely likely.)
It's not about Lucic or Neal though.

Something to note: if Lucic has to protected, it's not fully costing us the player Seattle picks. It's costing us the difference between that player and the next guy on their list.
