Hopefully this is not an Arizona Coyotes Monday timeline.

Didn't go well last time, so I'll just have a wait and see attitude on this one. All I care about is that it isn't done poorly/cheaply and that the taxpayers of Calgary/Alberta don't get hosed.

A distinction: any arena funds from #yyccc would be from capital grants which can ONLY be used to build stuff. The current tax hubbub and service cuts (also on Monday's agenda) come from operational funds, which are completely different and funded by taxes.

In the last iteration (July 2017) of the deal, the funding for the City's $175m cash contribution was from leftover funding from previous infrastructure grants identified during Infrastructure Calgary process.

The eyes of the industry are upon you.

Or perhaps the team is being moved to Albuquerque?

Hunger strike?

Or fund it 100% with taxpayer money, and give every taxpayer in the city a card or code they can use online 10 (5?) times a year for a free ticket to an even (game, concert, etc). The ticket would have to be non-transferable of course, because scalpers.

That would work for some Calgarians, but certainly not all.

Fair point. Maybe extend it to tickets for any event in a city-owned/funded place.

If it's infrastructure grants, is there provincial and federal money in there too?

Time to start thinking up names for this new arena.

Lol so they're investing significantly more than what was essentially 0 dollars in Edmonton. Hooray!

As long as it's a new arena (hopefully the inverted bowl design) you could name the thing the Ducks Unlimited Centre and I wouldn't care. lol

Truly, as long as it isn't named Roger's X or Scotiabank Y, I'll be thrilled.

And not for nothing, but we need a comeback on naming stadiums things like 'Forum', 'Colesium' and 'Gardens'.

This Centre/Place/Arena #### is boring.

Has the inverted bowl design been done anywhere yet?

I'd hate to have the first application of a new design.
