It maybe gets them Mike Stone, who has a history with their new coach. Could be something there.

Does Edmonton risk trading Pulju to the Flames though? Lots of talk that he’s being chained to a package with Lucic, but there’s also a chance he could come back to bite them (however small that chance may be). They may want to trade him out of the division, if not the conference, if they can. Ottawa might be willing to oblige, given where they’re at.

With Tre known to have been looking for an upgrade at 2C I could really see something around Brodie and Jankowski for Nuge. Flames might have to add a little more but the cap hits would be close. And although they would be losing one their handful of NHL forwards they would be adding a guy who would be playing 25 minutes a night for them on the top pair.

I don't think it's crazy.

And even though it doesn't address toughness it opens up the possibility of going Tkachuk -Nuge -Bennett which has lots of potential and would be good at both ends of the ice.

These proposals are all kind of crazy involving Neal and Lucic. As recently as this morning commentary was on how motivated Neal is to improve. Lucic is currently firing on all his remaining cylinders. He is not going to get better.

And seriously, stop including Bennett as a throw in to every deal. The majority of fans actually like Bennett.

Count me in on the Brodie for PRV and a 2nd being a potential win-win for both teams.

This is one I just want to go away ... no thanks.

Frolik for say Brodziak (who is sent down, but needed to get Edmonton under the cap) and a 3rd wouldn't hurt my feelings, but I can't see Frolik waving for that.

Seriously, I think Lucic has the worst contract in the league.

Lucic's contract is buyout proof and immovable. It's the definition of negative value.

We should not be actively thinking of ways to acquire it.

I think if you removed contracts completely a d just looked 1 for 1 at Neal or Lucic, Tre/the flames would pick Lucic 8 or 9 times out of 10, going forward.

So the question then becomes, how do you square the contract situation?

I have to believe that with the loss of hathaway, Trelivings team building philosophy and the way they went out in the playoffs make a lucic to Calgary scenario actually pretty attractive to the flames...IF the flames can convince lucic to waive his protection for the expansion draft.

Even better if they can get the oilers to retain salary.

Neal for lucic might be the only way to move on from Neal and the flames may think that's worth the gamble, because at least lucic gives you something.

My guess is Smith is wanting his buddy James to come to Edmonton.

Edmonton better be retaining some salary and also taking all of Neal’s money from us. Lucic also has to promise to waive his NMC. Lots of “to-do’s” in this scenario so I don’t see this happening.

Great trade for the Flames, they get rid of Neal at a cost of 10% retention on Lucic + 1st round pick , but get JP (worth about a 2nd). They should jump at that.

Oilers get hosed. They get rid of Lucic, but the cost is a first round pick, plus 10% retention and JP, plus they get saddled with Neal.

The third team gets 80% cap on Lucic for 2 first round picks.

I don't know, Lucic is a different level of stink than Neal.

Neal has some chance to make a comeback this season.

I think Gordie Howe has a better chance than Lucic of coming back.

... I'd want a legally binding league approve waiver of his NMC... not just a promise (and at least 10% of his salary retained). Under those exact (or better) circumstances I'd consider it.

If Lucic is traded, it's not his choice to waive or not, it's the teams. No team on earth would honor it, so if he is traded it is dead.

Also, Neal is superior in every way but face punching.

So if Lucic comes here does he ask Czarnik for #27 or wait until he isn't looking, cross check him in the neck and just take the number?

Neal is trending on Twitter and one tweet talks about three way with Lucic to Vancouver, Neal to Soilers and Ericksson to Calgary. But then says we dont want Ericksson.

Ya, all we need is that idiot taking bad penalty after bad penalty for us. I would rather have any other player in the NHL then that psycho.
