An interesting day today for Canadian soccer. It is hard not to read into these match ups.
CPL vs. USL - with the Ottawa saga, this is kind of a statement game not just the clubs, but the leagues. Not being very familiar with Ottawa and USL, it is hard for me to gauge this one, which will make it especially interesting.
CPL vs. MLS - Cavalry and Whitecaps are in different leagues, but are also on different trajectories. Tonight we get to see how a strong CPL team does against a fairly poor MLS side. Cavalry still officially the underdog, but if things go right for Cavs, this could be close especially at home. Vancouver are in shambles right now, so this is as good a time as any for this.
Oh yeah - and York9 and Montreal - meh. Unless Montreal rests practically everyone, I can't see York9 being able to contain them. Anything can happen, but I think this is the one pairing that has a clear favourite.

I completely agree. I prefer the outdoor aspect and real grass. I’ll be there with you complaining about the weather in November, but a little whisky and cause for celebration and we should be fine!

I'm looking forward to seeing more of Malyk Hamilton at RB while Northover is suspended. I think he has a much higher upside than Northover (who I think has reached his peak at this level), and should be considered a player that the club can develop and sell to a bigger club in the future.
Given that Hamilton has traditionally played as a winger or flat out striker, he is a significant upgrade on the attack, and can overlap well with Pasquotti. Defensively, Northover is the better of the two.

Northover is starting tonight. Suspension must only be applicable for league games.

Absolutely packed house in Halifax, what an amazing look. What's a sellout there? 6k? Looks like they have every seat full plus hundreds more in standing areas.

And currently losing to Ottawa. That's going to bruise a few egos around the league if the score holds up.

And an Ottawa player takes his shoe off, puts it back on and ties it up while the Ottawa keeper waits for him with less than two minutes of extra time, lol.

Looks like a few general admission tickets left for tonight’s match. Are they standing room only, or where do you sit?

About 12 rows left on ticketmaster. Hopefully they give those out to sponsors and kids and give us our first look at a full stadium. Can't wait.

Ugh, that is a strong lineup. All the better when we beat them, I guess!
