			Ok now I am confused. Francis calls it an ahl deal now
 Eric Francis  @EricFrancis
 “I’m ready to prove a lot of people wrong.” Nomadic, undrafted PEI resident Jeremy McKenna, who just signed an AHL deal w the #Flames as part of his uniquely winding road to pro hockey.

			Despite being a re-entry, FC had him at #157 in their draft guide for this recently passed draft. Could be like an extra, free 5th-6th round pick.

			Francis jumped the gun calling it a 2 way deal. News UpdateEric Francis @EricFrancisnow
 To clarify, like Alex Gallant, Jeremy McKenna’s contract is indeed an AHL deal, not a two-way.

It is somewhat interesting to me that McKenna's deal is not an ELC. If not, would he even qualify as a Flames prospect at this point? I don't think he can play in the NHL and this would still mean that he is a UFA at the end of this deal, no?

			Would be similar to AOM I guess. AOM didn’t sign an ELC, unless I’m mistaken, though he did go to Europe this year.

@EricFrancis
The #Flames have signed undrafted RW Jeremy McKenna to a two-way deal, following a strong prospects camp. He finished 5th in QMJHL scoring this year, playing on a line w Flames 1st rounder Jakob Pelletier. Had coffee w him this morn in his native PEI. Story to follow .

If he wasn't born there he's not from there! just ask anyone you meet from the Island. He considered "from away"

			An AHL deal is still a foot in the door. It's a way for the Flames to work on him without using a contract slot. There was a slim to none chance he would get called up this season anyway.
 It worked for Hathaway.

If he signs an AHL-only deal, then he is still UFA. Any NHL team can swoop in and sign him now (or at any time during the season).

Lomberg also joined the Flames organization on an AHL-only deal.

I think you are backwards on this one. Born in Alberta and then moved to the Island.

That is true. We are a stuck up bunch. He is a CFA (come from away).

			Can the Flames (or any other team) sign him to an ELC before this deal expires?

			I like this AHL signing. Possible free prospect down the road. Free is good and never hurts to have too many prospects. Love the fact that he played with Pelletier as well.
