He called it that he’d never play again for the spurs when that was a against the grain thing to say at the time. Who knows. He put a lot on the line in the direct quote he says “I’m the kind of guy to measure twice and cut once, so with that I drop the mic”
He’s pretty connected and doesn’t just throw stuff to stick like others. He reported months before anyone that Leonard would never play for the Spurs again. Kawhi can take a two year with Toronto which makes him eligible for the Supermax again as he will have ten years service in the league. He can go to LA at that point and likely be rid of LeBron.

That two-year deal is exactly what Jalen Rose is predicting, for exactly the reasons you're suggesting.

To be accurate about Rose's statement, he said 99% of his sources say Kawhi will be back in Toronto. It may be from Kawhi's camp as they may want to get that word out rather than dropping the mike like Lebron. By most accounts nobody knows Leonard, so what Rose means by that statement is that almost all his sources think he'll be back in Toronto, but not that there's a 99% chance.
As for the media today - that's embarrassing. Clearly a few fans cared to go to the hotel (overdone IMO, but okay I guess), but to get a helicopter and make it like the OJ chase is silly. Pure media contrived equivalent of clickbait. I don't see it as fun - I think it's over the top sillyness - the parallels to OJ isn't a positive image in anyone's eyes.

Did you watch the entire clip? He flat out says it’s a done deal later. Obviously he could still be wrong. But he is definitely saying that he’s heard it’s locked it.

Seriously. 99% of his sources.... hahaha

Question: If Kawhi signs the rumoured 2 year deal to get him to 10 years served for the biggest contract - Does he have to serve both years in Toronto to earn it or can he still opt out after one?

Okay, so basically if he decided his big contract was going to be with the Clippers and he liked where they were next summer, he'd probably opt out, sign a one year deal with them and then re-up the summer after that?
“What I’m 99 percent hearing is that Kahwi will be signing in Toronto on a 2 year contract” is his exact wording.
What’s there to confuse.
You brought in the semantics with your “he’s saying 99 percent of his sources not that it’s actually 99 percent”
Lol so odd. Don’t mean to call you out. But I don’t get what you were nitpicking that point about. He’s saying he’s heard he is signing. There’s not any other way to put it. He could totally be wrong but you picked a weird stance on this one.

Yeah, he said 99% chance he is signing in Toronto. And went even further if you believe in body language and tone basically saying "when this is announced" at one point later in the segment.
