That being said.. pretty hefty return for Kadri..
I am not sure if Jankowski + Brodie was better than Barrie + Kerfoot

This works out to Brodie @ 50% plus Bennett for Kadri...glad we were out on this one...

Wasn't that mis-reported? All they said was he had some Canadian teams on his NTC list. Calgary could have very well been one mind you, but still.

The Avs offer here is way better than Brodie+Bennett
 Huge overpay by Colorado IMO

Not sure how this helps the Leafs cap wise. 4.5 out in Kadri but 5.5 in for Barrie and Kerfoot is RFA and will get more than his QO.
Barrie is UFA next year and will either be gone or command a raise.

Edit: I see now the 50% retained

yeah, that is a big price to pay for the Avs.Sucks though as Kadri would've been a good fit for us. Wonder what BT does now.

That is an excellent trade for Toronto. Absolutely insane that they're getting Barrie at 50% retained, even though it's only for one year. That completely solves any cap issues they might have had. Just goes to show what Kadri's term was worth.
At this point the Leafs should be favoured to come out of the East. Obviously a lot can change, even between now and puck drop much less now and next year's playoffs. But this is a huge, huge move for them.

Barrie only has 1 year left and is going to get a big raise, I like this from Colorado's perspective. They are loaded on D in the years to come but needed to upgrade at the C position. Kadri is at a very friendly 4.5 for 3 more years.
Kerfoot is decent offensively but has no defensive awareness to speak of.

I wonder if this has been in the works for a while and is why they moved Soderberg.
