Chicago seems to be trying to squeeze a few more playoff years out of the Toews and Kane contracts. Kind of all they can do at this point. Might work out for them.

They could have one more hurrah with the Kane/Toews/Keith core with these moves.

Wow, that's sure an interesting deal. I thought there would've been a lot more term.

Geez... if that’s all it took, you could have thrown some term his way and gotten him for $4M AAV. Would rather him over Talbot.

At that price, I wish Calgary could have found a way to sign him.

John Shannon @JSportsnetRobin Lehner, who turned down NYI’s offer of 2 years at 5 million per, is going to Chicago for 1 Year at the same amount.

One more chair. Varlamov get overpaid by NYI now or does Lou try to pull something else out of his hat?
Maybe he should make a trade for Domingue.

Maybe he is betting on himself.. repeat his performance from this past season and all of a sudden he may be looking at a Bobrovsky type contract next off-season.

			Great bargain.
I would have loved to have him on the Flames for that price.

 Which goalie(s) prevail?
 |
· Grubauer and Hellebuyck are not as good as the others
· Binnington is a wild card
· Rinne will be 37-years-old, and is a good bet to start less than 50 games
· Lehner will be sliding over from defense specialist Barry Trotz and goalie guru Mitch Korn to rookie head coach Jeremy Colliton in his first full season
· Dubnyk plays in Minnesota, and they are terrible

I don't see how Ben Bishop is not the obvious choice here.

Not sure why people are so excited about Lehner.
Yes he had a great season, but it was only one season. There is a lot of risk involved with him and I think this is evident by the lack of a long term offer from any team.

Islanders have one of the best goalie coaches in the league and all they were willing to offer was a 2 year, $5million AAV contract. That tells you something.

If Lehner can put up another great season, then he absolutely deserves big term and money on his next contract next year, but right now, he is a big question mark, about as big a question mark to me as Cam Talbot or Mike Smith.
