No surprise if Panarin signs with NYI. If I remember correctly there were discussions as long ago as last 1st July that he would go to NY because his girlfriend is a model, and she would get more exposure in NY than in Florida. He is going to make a shed load of cash either way, so why not go where it helps them both.

Can’t Lucic waive his NMC for the expansion draft? Why wouldn’t he? He wouldn’t be selected any way so unless it’s not something he can waive, I don’t get why this is always mentioned as such a big deal.

Even if he can waive it, it doesn't mean he would, so the big deal is the team has to use one of their protection "slots" on him instead of someone else. But, as was mentioned above, this probably is only the Oilers problem, as him being traded means he'd have already waived his NMC.
Regardless, I'd much, much, much have another year of Neal maybe bouncing back than Lucic. Would have to be a hell of a sweetener.
