Stang is correct. Zadina barely played for the Wings last year. Veleno hasn't sniffed the show yet. I think the last guy the Wings tried to rush was DeKeyser, and even then, he was 22 when he became a regular out of college.

Sure, but how much of the Oilers rushing players is strictly due to their GM? They are known for having a meddling owner and internal pressures that seem foolish from the outside.

Does Holland have complete autonomy? I doubt it.

That's an excellent point, AC. However, I think we're gonna see a different Ken Holland trademark taking away spots from those young players like Broberg: signing aging "big names" in UFA. I think Thomas Vanek and Dion Phaneuf make sense as guys the OBC can vainly (and likely unsuccessfully) try to sell to the fanbase, and in whom Holland, given his track record, is bound to have an interest.

I'm positive that putting the newest young talent into the lineup as quickly as possible is an internal mantra of the oilers that goes beyond the GM. It helps them sell hope through their annual cycle of insanity and in turn continue to fill seats.
