I have to imagine Vegas trades Reaves this offseason. Wonder if they gave him that salary just to prevent him from going to a division rival.

That's exactly what it was if rumours were to be believed. The rumour effectively boiled down to "Vegas gave same total dollar figure, over 1 less year". That would mean the Flames were offering 5.55M over 3 years, hence the Vegas cap-hit of 2.775, which seemed weirdly high at the time.

If I was Ferland I would take the biggest money and term deal offered regardless of the team. This is his best shot at a big payday. I could see him ending up in Columbus or a place like that. He and Anderson on a line would be pretty tough to matchup against.
