Default 2019 NHL Draft Rounds 2-7. 11AM MT. SN NHLN

As of posting Flames still have 4 picks today

Flames 3rd - 88
Islanders 4th -116: acquired from NYI in Hamonic trade
Flames 5th - 150
Canes 7th - 214: acquired from CAR in Lack trade

If you need some help tracking the picks:
https://www.nhl.com/nhl-draft/tracker

These are the picks the Flames traded away:
Flames 2nd - 57: traded to NYI in Hamonic deal
Flames 4th - 119: traded to Habs for 122 in 2018 draft (Milos Roman) . Habs later traded the pick to the Kings
Flames 6th - 181: traded to CAR in Lack trade
Flames 7th - 212: traded to OTT for Nick Shore. Sens later traded this pick CBJ in Dzingel trade

Still some major talent in the second round. Come on Tre and work your magic.

Frolik to Carolina for a second and grab Lavoie.

Can't wait!!!

Really hope Frolik and Stone are on the move today for picks. Doesnt look like Brodie is moving. Would make our D next year possibly.

If Brodie is around for 19/20 he’s playing with Gio. They’re a phenomenal pairing.

Gio-*insert name* is a phenomenal pairing. Brodie has been dragging gio down if anything. I really hope we can trade him today

Riiiiiight. Which is why all of his best career seasons, including his Norris winning season, was with Brodie as a partner the vast majority of the time.

Dumb take.

Won't be near a TV this afternoon to watch. Do they stream the draft via radio at all?

Doesn't Brodie to Montreal for 2x 2nds and Josh Brook make sense for both teams? They could really use a D, we could really use some more prospects. Really want some more picks and prospects for this team.

The runaway winner for that is the post yesterday that said the best comparable in the league for Monahan is Dylan Stome.

In terms of play style that might actually be accurate. Both big guys but not bangers, good passers but don’t do it enough, not line drivers but they are talented enough to. Most of the other top centres don’t play like Monahan, so stylistically at least I would say Strome is fairly comparable. Monahan is definitely more lethal in the slot though.

Nowhere near as laughable of a suggestion as Brodie making Gio worse though.

If Montreal wants to take a run at Duchene they wont be moving picks to take on a year of salary.

I can’t help but think there are going to be a lot of disappointed flames fans when Brodie’s finally dealt. His value was lower to begin with, and with the new cap crunch and excess of available D-men, it’s only dropped from there.

So he was never going to be a Calgary Flame.

Enough F talent at the top of the second round, that I wouldn’t be against trading a D not named Gio, Andersson, Valimaki, Hanafin or Hamonic to move up.
