Let me know next time you see a young, solid, established 3rd liner on the waiver wire.

If you're not blinded by the appeal of the new prospect being compared to the big stars of the league, history shows that getting a regular NHLer late in the 1st round is doing very well for your team in the draft.

Correct on my brain fart with respect to league, but wildly incorrect on having not seen him. Pretty obvious, in my opinion, which league I meant with the point-per-game comment as it's much more impressive in the O than the Q as everyone knows.

With the Draft being in Vancouver, we get a later start for Round 2. 11am MT tomorrow on Sportsnet.

At some point you need a home run or two...if all you ever pick are "safe" 3rd liners your team is gonna suck.

Lavoie was nearly a goal per game in the QMJHL playoffs, 20 goals in 23 games. Guess we have ifferent definitions of impressive.

Well Lavoie is still available...like others have mentioned on here, I hope Brad can pick up a couple of 2nds, maybe in a brodie trade? Lots of good players left - Lavoie, Brink, Hoglander, Robertson, Leason...

Pelletier has scored 5 more points in the Q... in 37 less games.

Lavoie can go on some pretty good runs, but Pelletier is a more consistent, better offensive, and better defensive prospect.

If you’d make your draft choice based on 20 games, then that’s your bag.

We're talking about late first round picks. I'll be pretty happy if we're drafting solid 3rd liners each year with our late first rounds picks, as our draft position suggests we're doing quite well.

Also, you realize that prospects deemed to be "safe" are also capable of exceeding expectations?? Dube was viewed as a solid, 3rd liner type...was that "safe" pick bad?

Interesting

Andrew Walker@AndrewWalker650
Just spoke with #Canucks Jim Benning on @Sportsnet650
. My sense was, they (obviously) like Podkolzin, but he wasn’t THE GUY to the extent Hughes/ EP40 were. Most believe Zegras was that guy. Trade up options (2nd round pick) fell through

Would love getting all three of Detroit's second round picks. There is still some major talent left.

Doesn't make sense for them though.

Not to sound homer-ish but holy hell is Tre awesome!

His interviews, the way he’s always making moves and then this. Love it.
