Man, hope the Flames can pick up a 2nd rounder or two the way this is going. Great picks still available early tomorrow

I'm just glad that it seems this team has moved on from drafting low ceiling players (Leason) with 1st round picks.

Bit of a reach for Tampa but still have to be happy with that if you're a Bolts fan.

If the teams immediately after you don't take the player that you left on the board, chances are you did the right thing.
So far Tampa has taken Foote and passed on Lavoie, Suzuki, and Kaliev.

You have to think that the 32nd pick tomorrow will be traded away, cause there are still some good steals up there.

Agreed. They didn't lose in the palyoffs because of lack of speed, they lost because of a lack of intensity. That's why I like this pick

This has been a very weird 1st round. I want to see the Flames trade for an early 2nd given the players available. It’s crazy.

Kaliyev and Lavoie had serious questions about their effort levels. Suzuki is skilled but is a perimeter player who rarely gets into the guts of the game. Not a fan of Suzuki so really glad we didn't take him.
With Kaliyev and Lavoie, I am guessing Treliving and Button would know the kids better and the fact that they are falling, tells me that they didn't interview well and teams are afraid of the lack of effort level.
The playoffs showed that you need high end compete and high end skill I think Pelletier has both of those. I liked Hoglander a little better, but I think they are very close.

When you're drafting late in the first, you're not getting a stud. I would always gamble on a guy who lacks "high end compete" and can still score 50 goals against his peers...hoping you can get his head screwed on right. True, boom or bust...but if a guy like Kaliev had "high end compete", he'd be a top 5 pick!

Lavoie I don't know but Kaliyev had red flags re. effort and then completely bombed at the combine.
