The Bruins have now lost more Stanley Cup Finals series than any other team, with 14. They were previously tied with the Red Wings.

The Canucks are now the only team to have played in at least 3 Stanley Cup Finals series and not won any.

All the time and effort you put in to get there and then lose...c'mon. Why can't they show emotion? How does it show you have no class?

Agree to disagree I suppose- nothing wrong with showing your emotions and it certainly doesn't reflect on how much you respect your opponent.

In my opinion, the tears have more to do with how emotionally and physically draining the playoffs are. Once it’s over and you come down from that, I think it’s almost uncontrollable.

Captains and leaders of the team don’t come down from that until long afterwards, as they still guide their teammates through the loss.

By this logic, the winning team shouldn’t celebrate until hands have been shaken and the losing team is off the ice.

This isn't "old fashioned," it's ignorant.

Crying isn't disrespectful.

Remaining emotionally composed isn't a choice you make.

And having your eyes well up isn't "crying like a baby." Have you ever interacted with a human baby? That's not what "crying like a baby" looks like. I'm sure parents around the worse wish desperately that's what crying looked like.

When you go for something big and you put every single thing you have into it, there's no energy left to spend on worrying about controlling your "manners." I think it's sad that there are people out there who go through life, never having put everything they had into anything, and never knowing the true feeling of joy when it works out, and the crushing feeling when it doesn't. You can go around life half-assing things and convincing yourself you tried, but you'll never know how good or bad things can feel just clocking in and out every day. What a boring life.

This take is as bad as if someone rolled in here and said "I don't think the players should swear when they win, it's disrespectful."

Grow up, mr.old fashioned.

Old fashioned? No. The label you're looking for is emotionally stunted. It makes one weak, not tough. Horrible attitude that should die with the generation that passed it down to us. Have a good cry today buddy, it'll feel cathartic.

In the old days, men crying was a sign of strength, because it meant that the man cared so much about the topic that they were driven to tears thinking about it.

Agree with most of this except for the manners part. And calling someone ignorant. Crying is a human response, nothing to do with manners. You can still show your opponent respect and be emotional at the same time.

Now do I have respect for people who are able to keep their composure despite being supremely disappointed or sad? Sure. Grace under pressure, being able to support those around you in times of great distress, those are qualities I admire. Just because someone isn't crying, doesn't mean they "half assed" it. Nor should you judge someone who wears their emotions on their sleeve.

That's better. Marchand and the Bruins are dog####.
If it helps, Marchand scored twice against the Canucks in Game 7 in 2011.

So, at least he benefited humanity once

Chara half assed the Stanley Cup final because he didn't cry when he lost. What a boring life he must lead. Bergeron too.

I guess anyone who laughed at Marchand crying deserves to be shamed by you and the likewise intellectually advanced?

Your post had the opposite effect of what you thought it was going to have. No one is impressed by how manly you are because you think crying is classless.

Chalk the L and carry on imo.

I had no intention of the post getting any legs. Marchand crying has blown up social media and I just said I don't like when guys lose a championship and cry. I'm sure many people on this very board laughed at him for crying.

Maybe show some grace in defeat is all I'm saying.

For the record I never said anywhere that men shouldn't cry, or the crying implies lack of manliness etc.

People laughed at him crying because he's an #######, not because he's crying.
