Is there a rumor that you can share with any information? are you a fan speculating or have insider info?

I'd be interested to hear what you've heard even if its speculation. PM me if you'd prefer.

We go to PHX 3/4 times a year and are in scottsdale so this would be great

I am curious what the total financial damage of the Arizona Coyotes has been over the years. It has got to be close to $500 million in cumulative losses by now. Legitimate question, is there is a sports team in the world that has lost more money than the Coyotes?

They had an average attendance of 14,000 and an average tv audience of 8200 this past season. These are actually improved numbers over what they had in recent years. I get that the NHL likes the potential of these big American markets, but I just don’t understand how this is profitable for anyone.

Don’t get wrong. I’m glad they found another investor to put their money into this team. I think it is great there is a team in the Pacific that doesn’t have the budget to field a competitive team. It is also hilarious to me that despite how garbage the Coyotes are, they have a better record over the last 10 years than the Oilers. But at some point there should be a breaking point.

He's kidding, though they have looked at a new arena down there to share with the Sun Devils hockey team, but last I heard the deal fell through.

New majority owner of the Coyotes (pending BOG approval) is Alex Meruelo

I don't know much about this guy but I guess there are some positives to his ownership;

Quote:
If the sale is completed, it is believed that Meruelo, who is Cuban-American, would become the only majority Latino owner currently in the NHL. His ownership could open up possibilities in a Latino market that has gone largely untapped by the NHL. Meruelo’s knowledge of the media and gaming landscapes could also create opportunities to weave those areas of expertise into the team’s platform.

He doesn't appear to have any ties to the Phoenix area, but he also doesn't have ties to any city that doesn't already have an NHL team either.

Most of his company's investments appear to be in the Los Angeles area, including a tv station and numerous radio stations. He also owns casinos in Reno and Vegas.

It looks like one of the things he does is target the Latino community with his businesses.

I would guess this closes the door on any near term move to Houston. Tillman Fertitta, who owns the Rockets and controls Toyota Center, has talked about wanting an NHL team. I don't see him agreeing to someone else putting a team into his building.

Muruelo owns the SLS Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It was formerly called The Sahara and will be shortly be renamed to... The Sahara.

Your team, the Arizona Coyotes, have never played a play-off game.

I see what you did there but that's not comparable at all.

Both the Coyotes and Jets suck. There's no need to argue over which one sucks more.

It's like watching two kids argue over whose father is the bigger deadbeat.

Did you know, there are only 4 teams in the NHL that have never played in the Stanley Cup Final? 2 of them have called Winnipeg home.

To be fair, Toronto hasn’t played more than 3 rounds in the Stanley Cup Playoffs or in a final with more than 6 teams in the league, so they also deserve an honorable mention.

All true. At least the Jets and Leafs have iced competitive teams the last couple of years and giving their fans some hope for playoff success. Coyotes are in perpetual next year mode.
