If the 'bought property' story is legit then I think it's a massive good sign. He only needs to be there another week - would be super strange to buy a multi-million dollar property for his last month or two in Toronto. Nobody wants a summer house in Toronto. I'm pumped. I think he's in. I think Toronto's probably a fun city to be super rich in.

He is from there and likely to be there in offseason/when retired.

With no connection to Toronto, buying property there is a lot more telling.

He's from LA too so buying property there isn't surprising at all for the off-season. An American athlete buying property in Canada with no plans of living there atleast part of the year doesn't sound right.

The house he bought was in Rancho Santa Fe near San Diego, not in LA.

It's an impressive one too.

If you are buying a place in SoCal, that's the area you'd want to live over almost anywhere else. He is from LA, but that place is likely his retirement/off season home, and nothing to do with where he will actually be living next year.

Damn. That's a lot of pool to keep clean.

Anyway, I did a quick google search and it looks like he already bought a house in Toronto back in September. Which no one put any stock into at the time. So either this is a second house, or... ?

No, player and team options can only be in the last year of a contract.

I think a 2-years-guaranteed + a player option makes the most sense for the Raptors and Kawhi. If they are able to retain him on such a deal, it makes for a really interesting offseason next year, enough cap space to sign a max free agent and also retain Pascal. They could play it safe and roll the current core as long as they're winning, but my hunch is Masai wants to sign Kawhi short-term, and then turn over the roster to make a long-term winner.

If Durant doesn't play another minute the rest of these playoffs is there any doubt he'll get the max from the Knicks?

Leonard will be fine.

Durant's injury is minor, and at this point the Knicks would give 56 year old Jordan the max because they're so desperate for anyone. If Durant ripped up his ACL that would be a different situation.

It is his achilles so not minor. The Warriors are just bsing the calf strain. Durant won't be back this season.

Durant out again. Thompson questionable for game 3. The Raps have a chance!

So then the question becomes - How accurate is the report that this is a new purchase in the past couple weeks, as the source suggests. If he screwed up and didn't realize that Kawhi actually bought during training camp then that will be crappy to hear.

But if he bought in September and bought again now my feeling would be he quickly bought a "I'm here for 7 months" house but recently bought a "You know what I'm here for another 16-24 (possibly more) months I'm rich I'm going to get comfortable here".

All I know is if Kawai re-signs New Balance is going to see a big uptick in basketball shoes sold in Canada. Every gradeschooler in Canada will be asking for Kawai NB shoes for the new school term.

Tonight is obviously a must win. Even if Klay somehow plays he'll be gimped.

I’m worried Klay plays and then drops 40 to prove a point.

Perhaps he’s the kind of guy who’s ok with the $84 million he’s already made and isn’t too worried about making even more money. I suppose those type of unicorns have to exist.

What worries me a little is that Toronto media are absolute piranhas, and this is one of the most anticipated stories in Canadian sports history (A true superstar possibly signing here) and that initial report doesn't appear to have even cast a ripple in Toronto, unless I missed it.

I don't think they actually do. I think if you don't care about money, you still hire someone to care about it for you.

On the other hand, I think the guy drives a 20 year old Tahoe or something. Definitely not a high maintenance individual.
