Almost assuredly. Raptors third round, game 6 beat most NHL games in the past 10 years. We could possibly see 9 million viewers for games in the NBA finals (1 in 4 Canadians).

Finals will likely easily surpass that. Raptors for years have been building the immigrant population in Canada brilliantly. I don't know if the average white Canadian even knows how culturally relevant basketball and the Raptors have become in this country.

I think the NHL know it ****ed up. I was getting silly "The finals are almost here!!!!" notifications on Saturday night while everyone was watching the Raptors, drinks in hand.

NBA is doing the same thing though with Saturday to Thursday to get started...and 3 day breaks along with it.

Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday, Friday, Monday, Thursday, Sunday

Never understood it.

Oh and for days there has been banter about how many people are neutral on who they are cheering for.....trust Boomer to simplify and come up with the answer.

Oh yeah, no disagreement there. Major sport leagues always baffle everyone with their scheduling. And you can't say it's because of prior commitments, because every major sports league requires arenas to be committed to their teams during playoffs.

I wonder what the difference between the two figures are? I'm assuming the 6.8mil I posted is peak viewers? Still pretty insane that in a 36 million population hockey country, 6.8mil tuned into a basketball game at some point.

It's only game 1, and a 1 goal game in the 3rd period.

Quite early to be calling it already.

Well its super early for that call, but the Bruins have extremely elevated their play.

As an aside, nice to be able to watch these games on the NBC. Get to have American quality broadcasting which is better than Canadian.

You have to be straight up high to try and charge Zdeno Chara.

You had all the momentum in the world and its like skating into a brick wall.

They showed a reverse angle a few shifts later. He was coasting the last 20 feet.
