Also, with all the starting pitching injuries, the Jays have acquired 35 yo starting pitcher Edwin Jackson.

Sanchez is flat out dealin it today. K'd 5 straight batters in the first 2 innings.
His breaking ball is moving about 3 feet and he has complete command of his fastball as well. Best i have seen him look in 3 years.

Is this the most unwatchable Jays team ever? I only tune in for Vlad and even he’s caught the no hit disease

Whats more frustrating for me is when injuries in the minors start happening to key prospects.
First it was Bichette and now Groshans is apparently battling something on his lower body.
The faster these guys can work their way to the majors the faster this team might be watchable again and those effin injuries dont help.
It also sucks when prospects fail too. You look at our OF right now and think, boy would it be nice to watch Alford learn the ropes along with Vlad, but nope. He's been hot garbage at AAA and has so far wasted a tremendous opportunity.
Plus Vladdy and Jansen have both been underwhelming offensively so far which makes the team even harder to watch.

^ agree with everything except Vladdy has been hitting the ball well and just not getting the results. He's gonna be a baller.

Yep. I would think so.
The Jays, despite not making the playoffs for a long time, have actually been a consistently competitive team since their inception in '77.
For me this is the worst Jays team I have ever seen.
The only thing worth watching is Vladdy. He seems to be figuring it out too.

Yeah, we had a lot of "not good enough to make the playoffs in a league where barely anyone makes the playoffs", years that were frustrating because we couldn't take the next step. But you were still watching the Halladays, Greens, Delgado's etc.
This is just horribad.

It is for me. I even stopped watching the Blue Jays in 30 minutes.
Vladdy JR is going to need some time facing pitchers in this league and learning their habits before taking it to the next level. I feel sorry that he has to play on a team like that.

I still think Atkins is the Chiarelli of Baseball. Just doesnt seem to have an actual plan other then pray Vladdy and Bichette stay healthy and some other peices pieces miraculously fall into place.
That sound familiar? Two future star players with no depth in site around them or real plan.
I look at the Angels with Trout's prime years being wasted and its a good reminder of both of the following:
1. Baseball is the league where a star player has arguably the least impact on the game or winning as any of the other big 4.
2. You need depth and lots of it. Can't have a hole in the batting order, rotation or bullpen.
Maybe we need to give Atkins a few more years of drafting/developing and trading/signing.
Im also still sour about the botched handling of Donaldson and the missed return from waiting half a season to long to deal him when it was apparent even to the fanbase it waould have been the right time.

Jays are following the Houston Astro's plan....
Its a complete tear down, there are other other pieces in the minors.
This type of rebuilding will take patience.
I would think the Jays will move Sanchez, Stroman and Smoak at the deadline.
They will add other pieces (i.e. more pitching and outfield prospects)

Jays actually playing a team that is comparable to them in terms of inability to hit baseballs!
Multiple players on the Giants roster with sub .300 OBP.
And they’re going up against Tyler Beede aka Young Beedah (rap alias) who rejected the Jays 2 million dollars (he wanted 3.5 million) when they drafted him in 2011 and went to Vanderbilt to pitch instead.

I’ve said it before and other analysts have said it as well. The problem isn’t the quantity of prospects. Everyone has those. It’s the depth of quality of prospects. The Jays are two, maybe three A1 prospects deep. I generally have no problem with that. But it’s the mismanagement of assets and the selling of trades for d-grade prospects that drives a fan crazy. You gotta maximize your return in any deal and getting a load of d prospects isn’t likely to transport into anything. And for that I don’t trust in Jays management. Every other Toronto management team I think fairly highly of. These guys really come across as business savvy snake oil salesmen and it drives me crazy. Just my two cents.

A cynic would suggest these qualities were purposely picked by Rogers after AA pissed them off by going for it.

I think that’s unlikely, knowing that with major transactions ownership has to give the go ahead. Where I personally think it went wrong does involve management and probably some sort of consulting agency involved. Shapiro is a pretty smooth talker, I think we all agree on that. He’s exactly the smooth talker that exec’s like, especially in Toronto. And simply put I think a guy like him probably wowed them in an interview and vision rather than the actual reality of what he’s done. Consulting firms and guys who can talk in circles are definitely part of the culture in Toronto business and it probably plays a large part in how he was hired.

Of course I miss it. I didn't think the game had already started so I finished watching Smackdown. I flip over just as they're going to commercial break and Buck talking about it.
