Right now the winds have caused all the raods to super dry out- they almost look white. But they are completely bare.

I'm just wondering if a plane could/should land in 80 km/h winds though.

Snow is blowing like crazy here, 20 mins south of Prince Albert. My dad got his truck stuck in the middle of the street and my mom had to walk to work because she couldn't get the car out of the driveway, when she was halfway to work a friend picked her up on his skidoo and took her the rest of the way. And I didn't go to school today, Yaaaa,

I'm not complaining, we usually get it pretty good and never have to deal with really cold temperatures, but it's definitely been one to remember.
apparently there was 37 hours of sunlight in the whole month of Novemeber.....

climate is good here, the weather sucks..but i'd rather have a cold crisp sunny day, then a cool cloudy wet day....

I'm a little NW of Vancouver and this has been one crazy winter for the coast. We've had 4 snowfalls already and about the same number of windstorms. I've lost electricity a couple of times, had my internet down for days and lost my satellite for about a week till I tried a few things to get it back. Winds have been up to 100 Km/h and ripped the roofing off my garage. Yesterday it was plus 10 and an hour later we were having a snowstorm. I've heard global warming or climate change will bring unsettled weather, so just maybe something like that is happening.

Richmond(where the airport is) got hit pretty bad last night. Many of the surrounding areas in the Lower Mainland(Poco, Port Moody, Surrey, Langley) got hit with upwards of 30-40cm yesterday. Vancouver is okay right now, Im in North Van and we didn't get much at all. It is pretty cold here, but if you're from Calgary, it's probably normal for you.

I'm the total opposite, something about it being really cold but beautiful and sunny out just doesn't sit right. I hate being cold, I hate it, I will take a cloudy moderate temperature anyday.

Why would he get excited? Wouldn't cold be bad for the oil and gas industry?

Cold means more heating requirements, thus more oil used. More oil used means more profits. Not that much more of a problem for getting it out of the ground though.

At least that's what I would think.

It was a very mild 12c in London today only dropping to 8c tonight. It has been really windy today 10m/s with some showers but whats new over here. The weather may be much warmer here but i wish wish it would snow. London cannot handle it and everything closes down, it is like nuclear winter because of frozen water.

today is what i am talking about, its a typical calgary day in Vancouver, no clouds lots of sun, not too cold....its pretty easy to dress for the weather and not be cold, there is nothing you can do about being wet all the time...but your right its all personal preference or what you are used too...

I don't mind cold as much as extreme heat. At least you can put more sweaters on when it is cold....

Actually, the colder it is, the more frozen and hard the ground is. If it's a mild winter, a lot of the larger rigs can't get onto location because of the softer ground. Really really hurts business. You may have heard about "spring breakup" in the oil industry. It's that time of the year the ground thaws and all the rigs are moved off site before they are stuck there. The slowest time of the year for drilling companies.

I guess what you said can apply towards the downstream companies, the ones that sell the product. But for the upstream, like drilling companies, the cold affects them the other way.
