Major is a bad call with the benefit of replay...real time you see a guy with a high crosscheck and the other guy is on the ice bleeding everywhere. I don't really blame the ref at all. Its a 3-0 game and he doesn't want it to get out of control.
4 goals in a 5 min pp is ridiculously bad, should they lose this game its not all on the refs. Don't forget that Vegas also scored a goal with an obvious high stick.

There would be legit riots if this happened tonight to the Flames if they got to Game 7 at home, and they didn’t tie it back up as Vegas did.

It quite possibly is the worst call made in the playoffs, if i was a vegas fan id be upset with a 2 min penalty call

But it's useful as Ref MacLean is admitting that this is exactly how refs think.
They *want* to manage games, they *want* to balance penalties. They *choose* to call penalties selectively depending on the time in the game and the score on the clock.
I have no doubt that the refs knew it was 3-0 with less than 10 minutes left in a heated Game 7 and that influenced their call in this situation. Would it have been the same call if it was 1-1?
No way.
