Watching my team lose in our own barn while having 3 punks in my ear the whole night is not enjoyable in the slightest and is even more irritating when I find out they are not even fans of the opposing team.

Dougie has a penalty that cost us a game 2 years ago (infamous hot mic after the game).
At the end of the day highly unlikely the Flames finish first without that trade.

I love a team that will punish an opponent and be a toss up to go deep but we have to go with what we have and it’s a small skilled team who has a difficult time playing a tough team in the playoffs
Hats off to Colorado as they smoked us in all aspects of play

Very true; it's a different rule book in the PS.

Because of our high hopes and the brutal way in which the season ended I really have no interest in watching anymore hockey this year.
So cheering for a nice spring far away from the remainder of the playoffs.

I don’t think you win in playoffs with Backlund and Monahan.

I am done with hockey for the year personally. I believed too strongly the Flames were going to go deep this year and it stings too much

I was commenting just on how the playoffs played out this year. Hanifin was horrible and Dougie certainly would have been an upgrade. Ferland would have also provided the toughness we sorely lacked as Lindholm never did much.

Ferland has played one game in these playoffs and is out indefinitely...injured much of the year
Can we stop saying how helpful he would have been, guy can't make a hit without getting hurt

The problem isn't Monahan, the problem is there's only Monahan.
Yes the flames would be better if they had barkov instead of Monahan, but they wouldn't be going anywhere if the drop off from line 1-2 was to Backlund.
It's the lack of total assets problem rearing it's ugly head again. If Bennett was Barkov and Monahan was Monahan, then you'd have something.
I don't think you trade Monahan and get any better as a club because you aren't going to move him 1 for 1 and get a better player. The goal needs to be supplanting him from the defacto #1 spot.
Right now there is just no other option than to play Gaudreau with Monahan, so when one of them is struggling, they both struggle. I look at the blues last year. Statsny was moving on, and even though Brayden Schenn put up 70 points with Tarasenko, they knew they needed a top flight centre. Just because Schenn wasn't a top line centre didn't mean they traded him, it meant they needed to push him down the lineup.
Fast Forward a year where O'Reilly is now the top guy, put up 77 points, basically a repeat of the season Schenn had the season before. Instead of the 2nd line centre putting up 40 points in 63 games (statsny), the 2nd line centre (schenn) put up 54 points in 72 games.
Tarasenko literally scored the same amount of goals both years but they managed to squeeze an extra 21 goals out of their lineup and finished 15th in the league in goals for this year compared to 24th in goals for last year. Basically all of St. Louis' number improved, PP%, PK%, Goals Against, Goals For, Faceoffs, Shots against. They only finished with one more win, but with 5 extra points. All of a sudden they have a hot goaltender and look at them now.
The PROBLEM though is you have to spend assets to get those players, and you have to have cap space available to bring them in. The Flames don't really have either.
You can have a shot at winning now if you're willing to blow up your ability to win with Tkachuk in the future, or you can with with Tkachuk in the future if you're willing to blow up your ability to win now, but you can't have both.

Ferland's grit? He is not even playing, he might in fact be permanently damaged. He has basically had an upper body injury(chronic concussion suspected) for the 6 weeks or so. Dougie has been really good though.
I really look at that as a 2 for 1 though. I am sure Dougie will walk in two years though, that will be a very expensive contract. Hannifin has been overwhelmed and has to continue to grow.

The terrible reffing doesn't help either...different rules in different games
Even when the league makes the call there is no standard. Explain to me how the Flames goal is called back but the Leafs counts

The problem is people have memories of 2015 Ferland, who would have helped immensely. 2019 Ferland is a shadow of his former self and not what we need.

people just assume 2015 Ferland...who no longer exists.
2015 Ferland would have been kicked out of this series anyway the way it was officiated

I think this is a series Backlund recovers from
But I think a lot of people wanted to know that Peters had a Plan B when it came to Monahan

Fair enough if we are just talking playoffs I agree. Hanifin was brutal and Lindholm was so-so. Still was a great trade for the team and a huge reason they went from out of playoffs to division champs. At the end of the day the Canes were a wildcard team and are in a best of 3 while the Flames are booking tee times

Shadow of his former self, who despite being injured a bunch, still would have finished top 6 on the Flames in goals...

I'm cheering for the Jackets and the Islanders. I wouldn't mind cheering for the Caps either if they get past the Canes.
