That period reminds me of period one, game one. Except, I was drinking like a fish the first game.

Peters needs to seriously do something about the lines. None of them are generating a thing.

He doesn't play well when there's physical play going on. Avs are hitting him at every opportunity to take him off his game.

You have to light a massive bonfire under Johnny's ass.
If I'm Peters I'm calling him a spoilt little punk who doesn't mind losing, and threatening to yank him off the ice in favor of a real hockey player.

So, the top line isn't clicking and Monahan seems invisible, but it's tough to shuffle the lines to try to create something because you dont want to break up 3M, and in any case, none of your other centres are really dynamic offensively.
Say, you know what would really help a lot right now? Matt Duchene.

I dunno. As far as baby steps go. That period was miles better. The D structure was there. The forced neutral zone turnovers were there. Considering they're coming from rock bottom. That was a big improvement.
Gio had a great play on McKinnon.

Getting tired of watching forwards gliding in on the back check. This is the playoffs, if you legs arent moving they'd better be broken

Something seems just wrong with the game plan tho. Why aren't our 3rd/4th line getting good zone time. All the depth talk...

Calgary doesn't drive the net for whatever reason...
they don't have enough players with suddeness to try an iso game... the one guy that did it in the regular season was johnny, but he has no shot... i was hoping Lindholm could be that guy, but he hasn't been the same since the AS break...
they need a greasy goal off a rebound from the D being active... or they gotta hope they get a PP goal

That should have been done after game 3. Maybe it happened. Scary response if it did.

Won or lose this is an effort you have to be pleased with.

Sorry but completely disagree. Great they were better defensively and controlled gaps for the most part, but they generated next to nothing and the Avs still generated 1 or 2 high danger chances.
If they can manage to string together both a sound defensive game, as well as pushing the pace offensively and making it tough on Grubaure. I will be satisfied with the effort.

The top line needs to score a goal. When they get on the scoresheet, Johnny gets more pumped up and starts doing all those cool Johnny things we know and love. The weird thing is we've seen him be a difference maker in the playoffs before (2015), so we know he can do it. He's a quick guy when he wants to be, and he needs to use that to his advantage and get his damn feet moving.

I would love to see Bennett on the first line. Lindholm should go down and play on Neal’s line.

I think our 4th like has been doing as good as you can expect. When they have little run support, the chances they’re generating and zone time is impressive.

My read in Johnny is that teams have adjusted to his tendencies and he has yet to readjust
