As GGG suggested, faster, more accurate. I think the best thing would to always allow people to vote at any polling station. My thinking would be some kind of system where you scan your ID -> it determines which candidates your can choose -> pick candidate -> hit submit.

The only thing I can think of that would be a potential con is people thinking their information and who they are voting for is being stored without their consent. I suppose the potential pro of actually tying an individual to a vote is the demographic information you could pull from the data.

I disagree. I think it will be upheld

Either way it goes to the FCA mind you

Rube, what is your solution to the growing alienation that Albertans feel from BC and the federal government?

Oh good, the identity/racist politics blast. Never gets old. Corruption knows no skin color...sorry.

I see...so those who oppose your no-more-informed opinion are whiners now? Thats always good for discourse, but you are feel to think and feel however you like, as am I.

Mark Smith already declared a winner....surprising to me. Thought it would be really close.

I imagine this gets called pretty quick. Only thing to decide will be how big the majority.

Alberta-students-vote-UCP-in-student-election

Quote:
Alberta students made their voices heard in the Alberta 2019 student vote.

Recent results show that the UCP won a majority government with 49 seats. The NDP forms the official opposition with 35 seats, and The Alberta Party won 3 seats. Of course these results aren't official, but the schools participating in the vote, made it seem very real for the students involved.

Students were asked to learn about democracy and what it means to be an informed citizen. They had to research parties, find their platforms and take part in debate about this elections big issues. When the big day came, students all cast a vote for their chosen candidates and parties.

More than 160,000 elementary and high school students participated throughout the province, and as of 4:00 p.m. April 16, 1,229 schools had reported their election results. All 87 electoral divisions were represented and 165,527 ballots were cast.
Quote:
The Student Vote was a collaboration between Elections Alberta, The Alberta Teachers Association, the Edmonton Community Foundation, The Calgary Foundation, The Alberta Government and The Government of Canada.

I voted at the advanced polls and it definitely wasn’t scantron.

Did not know that the Liberals only ran 51 candidates. Thought they would be better than that...then again, really no point.

Not the machine but the didn’t the ballot have small ovals that you were supposed to fill in completely?

Here’s a link to an article about it.

Gives an indication that Notley and her negative campaigning isn't a big issue with voters.

The one I had was the standard “X”. It was a big circle. I put it in a cardboard box. Maybe they were scantrons and I just didn’t realize it but they didn’t look like the ones from the Olympic vote (which was the only time I voted with a scantron).

Edit: after looking at your link mine were definitely different. I voted at the Seton YMCA.

Early election coverage is worse than trade deadline coverage without any trades.

Nope. That area would vote UCP or anything conservative regardless. Mark Smith is an absolutely brutal candidate. You could be a serial killer and that riding would vote based on political color.
