That likely occurs for the first time today.
4 years is a long long way off and its hard to believe that things will be the same or worse in regards to the subjects that matter to people this election.
A lot of it will come down to the issues at the forefront of voters minds at that point, and who the hell knows what they will be this far out.

I think that the political climate in Alberta has changed, and voters will seek change during elections. You are right, it is hard to predict where Alberta will be, all the same, the confidence in the UCP is not a given, I think that their popularity has a lot to do with the fact that they are a new party and not a continuation of the same. Change election after election is a good thing. As a moderate I think that no government should hold power for too long. A good political party has to continually earn trust, and not take citizens for granted.

BC kind of backed itself into a corner here and I think they know it at this point.

I'm all for playing hardball with BC. I hate that it's come down to this but it's got to the point where that province cannot be reasoned with.

The real problem is our weak, noncommittal federal government.

Agreed and who knows how the federal election will turn out at this point but in the mean time I support Alberta taking matters into their own hands and making things as difficult for BC as possible.

Guys like Joshua and so many other people I know who expect me expect to vote economically really bug me. I've worked hard and purposely towards getting myself out of the economy and into something I can control. I don't want anybody to suffer but I've earned the right to vote for who I think is less crappy on whatever issue I find most important. Save it Joshua.

My biggest concern with this election is what will Dion do with all his spare time. When Notley loses and people stop producing anti-NDP memes, what then?
Thoughts and prayers Dion.

Doesn't he golf with his mother or something? I seem to recall that Dion golfs with his mother.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

If the UCP's can effectively govern from the political center/right as they have platformed they could be lining up for another long line of successive governments. Plus, with a combative Federal Government they will be a stark contrast in standing up for Alberta vs the previous govt. The NDP had almost zero new ideas to present in this election, and the Alberta Party's platform wasn't able to connect with most voters. The 'bravest' pitch for change was made by the Liberals with their sales tax/elimination of income tax proposal who are likely to be erased from the legislature altogether.
As such, barring any truly socially regressive governance, there is no reason why the UCP would not be inline to capture a large plurality of Alberta voters.

One of the most interesting things for me this election is the fact that the Alberta Liberals came out with a really solid fiscal plan. A consumption tax offset by decreases in income tax and a reversal of the idiotic NDP corporate tax hike is smart policy. It's a little bit spend-heavy for me, but overall it's far more well thought out than the AP.

Two nice-looking ladies came to my door this morning and invited me to an event celebrating Jesus’ death on the cross. NDP? UCP?

Seems odd to "celebrate" his death, unless they are Romans.

I'm curious to see if Dion and Muta have both forgotten how to communicate in any format other than pictures.

I’ve had three unrelated people tell me that the advance poll boxes are all being sent to Edmonton for counting. Any truth to this?
