That is a lot of wasted minutes for a guy on the top line.

Reminds me of Backlund at the end of last season.
Best move given performances so far would be to swap Bennett and Lindholm.

Yeah but in the Playoffs you need your players to do things outside their comfort zone. Everyone needs to do extra to win a round and go deep. If your not willing why are you even playing?

We will see what type of team we really have on Wed. If this team is for real they will find a way to win.

I absolutely agree, which is why I’ve always questioned how far the Flames would go with Monahan as the best option at centre for the first line/core. Even with all his points he gets. Especially when a majority of his points seem to come when the games are less tight and more intense/physical.

Same goes with Gaudreau.

Just say you disagree and why. Don't give me that 'oh lord' condescending crap. You know full well that I don't imply to throw all those guys on the ice against Colorado's top line. Of course you know this, but hey, might as well try and make it seem like you are a smart guy, right?

Seriously, too many posters just post condescending crap where it seems more important to make a poster look stupid than to actually discuss the topic at hand. I barely post any longer or read even a quarter of the threads that I used to since I just find it annoying to keep reading crap like this back and forth between posters. But who cares. I must be a snowflake.

Respectfully, I don’t have any time for ‘let me call myself a snowflake’ crap. Let’s talk about the game, not that. I’m actually here to hear from guys like you.

You have all the time and space in the world to reply.

I said why I disagree.

I don’t think Compher is a highlight reel worthy guy in general. But the Avs are playing such that he is

The Avs are playing fast.

You are losing a game to guys playing fast who care. You don’t dress slow guys who you think may care, you have to take the guys you already dressed that can skate with this team and make them play to their strengths. Which involve puck passing being faster than skating.

No. No it did not. But how the team responds to that and this dumpster fire of a game will certainly determine the remainder of our season.

Gaudreau and Monahan gently bouncing off players in the o-zone and being separated from the puck by defenders simply invading their bubbles isn't what you want to see from your two best offensive players in the playoffs.

Poster above is completely right. You have to be willing to do things not in your usual comfort zone. Otherwise how do you expect to go deep. What's the point of making it there, to just continue to try to thread pucks around guys with as little contact as possible? They're not going to give you the space to do that.

If they used their weight and protected the puck with their bodies, rather than just their stickhandling, they would have the puck a hell of a lot longer, resulting in less of their shifts in our end defending.

In these games, you have to will the plays into happening. Free space to be fancy is no longer going to open up for those two, and if they're waiting for that, the series will be over before they get a chance to do one of their minor league tic-tac-toes while the defending teams stands and watches. Either have to beat them with speed, or push your way through.

Can't dispy-doodle to the net any more, at least not without speed.

I think it means out of all the players that didn't show up tonight you're picking out one of the players that wasn't that terrible, or at least isn't expected to do that much anyways.

I didn't mean on the ice. I just think they could do with someone in the room who could give them the type of perspective that Jagr could. The problems they're having are clearly in their heads.

Monahan is useless and is dragging down everyone near him, he should sit in favor of a juvenated Dube for at least a game. As should Brodie

Gaudreau - Dube - Bennett
3m
Neal - Lindholm - Janko
Mangiapane - Ryan - Hathaway

Giordano - Andersson
Hamonic - Hanifin
Fantenberg - Valimaki

Yes, Monahan was awful tonight. No, he shouldn’t sit for a game. That’s a ridiculous idea.

We aren’t going to win if our best players aren’t playing well, but they can’t play well if they don’t play at all.

While I wouldn't go so far as to press box them, I'd be giving them a very angry and loud dressing down, cursing and all.

They have looked like replacement level players at best this series, despite being counted on to be the best each night. Very pedestrian. I don't care how harshly Peters is with them verbally, but someone needs to challenge them.

I don't think it's a small coincidence that the only times this team has advanced to the second round were under the watches of sometimes harsh and unforgiving taskmaster coaches.

He's had one good game in the last 30 or so, he has not been one of our "best players" for a long time and now he is dragging down our current best players, probably injured but regardless he's playing lazy and soft and should sit.

I hope Peters puts in Prout and just pulverize Mackinnon every time he comes through the middle and to let him know your not doing that anymore..
