This is a big period, obviously. Flames need to come out and man up a bit, get in the dirty areas and throw some weight around. Far too many turnovers and on their heels far too much

I'd love to see Bennett up on the top line for a shift or two.

We can only beat the Canucks in the first round.

Wow. The last 4 periods have been extremely tough to watch. It's really hard to see the team you love being handled so easily, but the possession and scoring chances are heavily slanted in Colorado's favor again.
The really tough part for the Flames is that playing Backlund against MacKinnon is not working. MacKinnon is destroying him. He is an amazing player.
However, I expect Peters to shorten the bench and the Flames to put up a fight! I think Jankowski's minutes need to be limited significantly. His possession numbers are the worst of all forwards other than Backlund, Frolik and Tkachuk and he is getting the gravy minutes.
Go Flames Go!!!

Monahan's scored in the playoffs just fine too, he just hasn't tonight

The issue with him is that he cant drive play. Even if he scores tap ins thats great but not having a clear cut #1 centre is why this team has never had success since 04. Monahan is not a line driving #1 centre even if we win this series i will keep that criticism.

When did the team forget how to make a pass or shoot the damn puck?
If I'm BT - No players are allowed to go on a week long binger in mexico during the Allstar break.

Look at Mackinnon and compare him to Monahan.

Mackinnon is a top 5 center in the league...maybe top 3
there are 31 teams in the NHL...a lot of you guys don't understand math is the problem...not one person has said Mony is a better player
Hell we tried to trade Mony and two firsts for him and they said no thanks guy

The one thing that I am certain of, the Flames themselves are more prepared and capable of handling the ups and downs of a playoff series than much of CP.

Some of you just ####ing love the "I told you so" posts (you're pathetic by the way), but I'm going think positive here. 3-0 is a very dangerous lead. Hopefully the boys reset and start pressing. Lots of time to grind away while the Avs try to hang on. Go Flames!

I think it's a smaller speedy team against a bigger speedy team. Lets be honest the top line has been missing for a while and as the games got gritier the results were spotty at best. Feeling the effects of no improvements at the trade deadline perhaps? How good would Ferland look now.

I’m not even surprised by this start. Based on what I heard from the interviews, I didn’t expect any changes even though this team absolutely needed to change their tactics. Mackinnon and co are generating too much speed through the neutral zone untouched. Defend this guy like you defend McDavid. Trap or this series will be over in 5.

YES TIGHT CHECKING.
They can't generate speed through the neutral zone because of the TIGHT CHECKING.
They can't generate any transitional chances because of the TIGHT CHECKING.
They can't generate anything on the cycle because of the TIGHT CHECKING.
They can't get to the net or create any kind of chaos in front of Grubauer because of the TIGHT CHECKING.

the players that are the "leaders" in that dressing room need to step up.
a guy like Mckinnon stepped up big time, regardless of talent, he's show fire and drive and intensity...
i don't see that from calgary's best players...

I can't remember what poster called me out for being nervous about the Flames and how 05/06 still haunts me.
This is exactly the same way that series went.

It sucks but I agree. We need a Getzlaf type line driver.
