30-55 is crazy busy. Then the kids move out and life is gravy.

But when the dude is talking about the younger generation, I don’t think he’s talking about the 35 year old with two kids and a growing career.

Voter apathy is BS
Especially with how easy it is to vote now days with advanced voting. It took me just as much time to vote as it would to run into a place to grab a coffee.

The UCP’s promise to hold a referendum on equalization in Alberta might be one of the most misleading and idiotic vats of snake oil ever peddled to an angry and vulnerable population on the campaign trail.
Why dont you tell us what you really think.

Still, overall, I didn't think any of that article was unfair. A lot of the UCP platform is red meat for aggrieved Albertans, no two ways about it. Nothing too surprising, but a good summary.

Ha ha ha. Anyone else get a NDP ad pop-up while reading that. Was kind of fitting.

What did you think of this comment;

Losing is the goal. Being angry is the goal. Creating a perpetual culture of grievance and victimhood, one in which we can always blame Ottawa for our suffering, is the goal. All the better to ensure we always elect Conservative premiers—truly, the only premiers who are fighting for Alberta’s interests—to charge Don Quixote style at the distant eastern windmill.
Kind of taking a shot at Albertans no? She's right in some ways that we do blame Ottawa for a lot of our issues (plenty warranted) as well as our self-inflicted issues (we did vote in an NDP government after all) but I get the vibe of sour grapes that her party of choice (NDP) may be out.

The culture of grievance which has basically dominated Albertan politics is a big reason why I don't see myself coming back for the short-term. It's too much. Not the Alberta that I love.

How old are you and how far back do we have to go to the Alberta you love? It's been this way in Alberta since the 80's and probably back further.

There's definitely a belief in Alberta that if there's a Liberal government in Ottawa we need a Conservative government here to stand up for us. Remember the Dave Rutherford Show? Its ratings peaked when Chretien and Martin were in power, and cratered once Harper was elected.

Anyone who wants to see the NDP or Alberta Party running this province in the future should hope for a Conservative win in the next federal election.

33, old boy. I know that it has always had an undertone to the civic discourse, but it hasn't been this bad since the early 80's.

It's my assumption based off the sour grapes vibe of her article. It doesn't sound like something I would expect from someone that was a staunch Alberta Party supporter as they would have known their party never had a chance.

The UCP cannot be the party of choice for anyone with even an inkling of social progressivism.

It's full of dinosaurs. Yes, they will probably (maybe) do better for the economy, but the UCP represents a political viewpoint that a lot of us hoped had gone away for good in Alberta.

Maybe for most people with bills to pay and mouths to feed social progressivism isn't the number one issue

Its really not that complicated

Ah, gotcha. so no actual source then.

Writes article cautionary in nature to UCP's claims, must be an NDPer. Couldn't possibly be a centrist or conservative herself.
