They hit the ground running. It was smooth, storylines progressed without wasting any time, and they set up some intriguing new sub plots. Reunions, reveals, a Bronn foursome, some great humour, and a terrifying end scene that really set the tone for the impending greatest battle to ever hit the screen.
Everyone I watched with was shocked to realize the 56 minutes had already elapsed, probably because every minute was so delicious.
Great episode. I really like the ending scene as a connection bringing this season full circle back to the first episode of season one.
They certainly didn't shy away from driving the plot forward in this one either. They paid off a lot of moments that fans were anticipating from season 7 all in one go, setting the stage for a lot of action. Not much suspense around the timing of reveals.

I don't think they want to carve out the reputation of this season on known/anticipated reveals. They're getting them out of the way to make it all about the awesome things we don't know are coming. The characters reacted appropriately and each reunion was given enough time to be satisfying, as much as we'd love each of those exchanges to go on another ten minutes apiece. We still have Jon telling Dany that she isn't the heir, Jorah with the little bear, and Jamie coming face to face with the daughter of the king he slayed, as well as the Starks after Bran. Those will be pretty juicy. Although I feel like they're going to let Jamie off the hook rather easily because of the situational implications.

That would have been a bit much, even for GoT.

Great episode, except when John and Daenerys go for their little dragon frolic I felt like she was going to say "I don't like snow. It's cold and rough and irritating, and it gets everywhere!" That scene was just a liiiiitle to cheese ball for me.

Crave is really horrible. I decided this year to do things legit and get the proper service to watch GoT rather than acquiring it by other means.
- Apple TV app only parts in stereo and the quality looks to be 1080P it doesn't look like it
- Telus On-Demand plays in "surround sound" but the quality is also very poor
I took a look at the quality of the episode acquired by other means and it's amazing - on par with a Netflix or Prime show streaming at the highest rate at 1080P.
Is Crave just that bad? Are there any other ways of watching HBO shows at a quality level that is equal with other subscription based services?
Anyone else have issues with Crave? What time does the episode show up? Debating getting it, only if they manage to be better than the other option...

I don't read the books but I expect this is a bit of foreshadowing as it's not likely to be the last time we see Jon Snow riding a dragon.

Crave worked fine for me (via Samsung smart TV) except for some reason it cut out with about 10 seconds left.
Generally though I find Crave, while having good content, is a bit behind their competitors on the technology front - no Roku app, and the stream quality doesn't seem to be quite as good as Netflix or Amazon (usually get about 15-20 seconds of low definition feed when I start an episode, and once in a while a bit in the middle of an episode, which doesn't generally happen for me with the other services).
Sometimes I wonder if it is because Bell want people to subscribe to Bell and make things difficult for others; I think I read a while back they only made it available to non-Bell subscribers because CRTC made them.

Not only that, she just said the dragons were starving. I thought they were going to fly south to find a buffet.
What a terrible dragon mother. One of those moms who leaves her kids in the car while she goes gambling in a casino.

Is there anyone still alive who actually knows this for sure anymore?
Pretty sure people who marched on Eastwatch know, or at least Jon Snow does. Gendry and him were having a conversation and mentioned how his father and Jon's father were great friends and went to battle together.
EDIT: ...maybe not Eastwatch, but Jon Snow knows. Attached the clip.

Loved the parallel Dany arriving with that of the first ever episode arrival of Cersei. I don’t think the similarity in compliments from Cersei/Dany was lost on Sansa.
Are Tyrion and Sansa still technically married? Probably not right? Since I guess the Bolton’s annulled that.
I like Theon again. It’s weird.
Where is Brienne? Was she at Winterfell and not featured or is she on a mission somewhere? I can’t remember.
Is there a more iconic intro? Tonight’s was one of the best ever for GoT. In a world of TV shows where intros are being reduced to a single note, GoT is stepping up their game big time.
I want to see Jorah and the Bear Island heir. He’s got some ‘splainin to do. Thanks to him their family’s valerian sword is now owned by a stark. Jon offered to give it back to Jorah but never to the girl. She’s the one he should have been offering it to.

Dragonstone. Former home of Stannis and the ancestral home of the Targaryens in Westeros.

The last we saw of her was in King's Landing during the 'conference' in the season 7 finale. She was there to represent Sansa, so I would assume she's returned to Winterfell.
Or maybe she's gone off to save her one true love...Tormund Giantsbane.
Also, was the burning child and body parts meant to represent the Targaryen sigil?

She was there in the reception line.

No one is sure with the swirl symbols mean (that I’m aware of) but we’ve seen them before all the way back to early seasons.
When Jon and Dany were in the cave on Dragonstone, where he found the dragon glass, he pointed out to her that symbol carved on the wall and he said it was made by the Children of the Forest, who we know created the whitewalkers from Bran’s vision.
