Technical difficulties - best way to LEGALLY stream the game?
So of all days for some reason my modem decided to die and my cable provider can't get out until tomorrow to fix it.
Just curious if others who have experience watching the game on mobile devices can shed light on my options. I'm expecting to have to pay something to do this legally.
I have an iPad and an iPhone for streaming options. Going out to watch it isn't an option as I just don't feel like it
Thanks for your time.

If I recall correctly, Gamecenter does not have blackouts for the playoffs so you should be able to watch the Flames game in Alberta. You should confirm that before purchasing.

If you know anyone with TV services, they more than likely have a mobile TV account (i.e. FreeRange TV for Shaw or Optik for Telus) - ask them to borrow it for a night. If you're out East, both Bell and Rogers offer free mobile options for TV subscribers.

I've been watching through the NHL app with my Rogers NHL Live subscription. It's currently $75 for the whole playoffs. Works great on iPhone and iPad. Once you go 60fps you'll never go back. The only concern is blackouts. Rogers says there are no blackouts for the playoffs.
Another option is through the CBC Sports app.

Hit and miss, if I remember right, it was free last year.

I have NHL TV and ALL the games were blacked out yesterday lol.
Really lame so I had to get a streaming sports channel on Roku.

Watched Penguins vs Islanders last night in a web browser via CBC Hockey Night in Canada webpage. Had no issues whatsoever. They'll be carrying many games including all Leafs vs Bruins and Flames vs Avalanche games.

Probably only works if you're in Canada.

They lie. I ended up having to connect to Brazil through my VPN in order to get Game Center to work. US, Mexico, UK, and every European server I tried were blacked out due to national rights (who the hell shows hockey in Mexico?)

Interesting. From what I can see CBC.ca is streaming all of the Canadian teams first round games... and this appears to work? Seems to good to be true!

Oh wow. Never got to watch any games last night.
NHL has got to get their #### straight. I pay for a sub to CI and there is no way I should have to VPN in from Brazil to wat h games I have paid for!

It's good and it's true! I've watched a few games this season on CBCs website. I'm pretty sure any sports they broadcast are shown online for free. Just like the Olympics.
Edit-I think it's just the Flames and Leafs for the first round though, not the Jets.

Hope that works for you.
OTA HD is spectacular. Depending on your location a cheap indoor antenna will work. Walmart return policy 8s your friend. Good luck!

Cringe. The legality is not something that can affect the consumer. Just use reddit. (legally that is... )

For a $30 one time purchase it seems like I should get this given I don't have cable, but that assumes the picture isn't totally crappy.

The way OTA works is your picture is spectacular, or you have no signal. There is no in between.
The HD quality of OTA is exceptional
Hook up to TV, scan and watch. A cheap indoor antenna will be every bit as good as an expensive one so long as you are in signal path.
tvfool.com will give you an indication of what antenna you might need and how many channels you can expect to get

Intredasting... I suppose I will try this. Not sure why I wouldn't be in the signal path, in Montgomery.

Honestly listening to it on 960 is a perfectly good option.
