Dube recall is emergency basis.
Still leaves the Flames with 1 regular recall.

I just hope no one gets injured tonight. And more importantly than top line scoring IMO is the bottom half of the lineup continuing to gain confidence.
4-1
Dube, Valimaki, Neal, Lindholm

At this point it is almost certain we are playing Colorado in rnd 1

I know. But I keep checking anyways. The east wild card race and the Central division race are nail biters too.

Looks to me like #Flames C Sean Monahan and RW Elias Lindholm will sit tonight.
Gaudreau-Ryan-Czarnik is a line at morning skate.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
That is a small but fast and deadly looking 1st line. Very interested in seeing them together tonight

Why not put Neal on line #1?
- it's a meaningless game
- you want to get him going for the playoffs
- Does Czarnik play in the playoffs if Bennett is healthy?

Because he’ll be playing with Jankowski in the playoffs.

Surprised to see Rittich get the start.
I thought for sure we were going to end the season with a 41/41 split in Starts. Smith sits at 39. Rittich has his 41 already.

This might be why.

It looks like Neal is already going.

Not likely. Czarnik will probably not see a game until a forward or two are injured.

I thought Smith would start in Anaheim and Rittich would get the Edmonton game. But at this point I don't believe the coaches are counting starts. They have things pencilled in to get both goalies ready for the playoffs, and this was part of the plan.
Since there is more than a full week before Game #1, I wonder if this is an indicator that Mike Smith will be the playoff starter? It would make sense for him to get a game to keep fresh on Saturday and then to start again five days later.

It's crazy to me that we can rest out top 4 Dmen and I can still look at our defensive group in the line up and think "they can still do the job".
Wouldn't want to roll that group for a full season, but more than capable of playing some games.

I assume Smith has first crack in the playoffs as well.

If Lindholm sits, Gaudreau will be the only remaking player to have played in every Flames game this season.

So are the Flames basically claiming that Lindholm and Monny are injured?

I imagine the conversation went something like this:
Peters: hey Johnny, you want to take the night off and rest up?
Johnny: no.
Peters turns to Huska and Ward: ...and that's why they call him Johnny Hockey.
