Dean Molberg @960boomer
More importantly, Peters saying things look good for Sam Bennett. Was woozy after the hit but he actually took a shot to his leg which was more the issue. Says upper body is fine. Won’t play vs the Ducks but may play in season finale.

It really isn't
I broke my nose once and literally had jelly legs and dizziness for two hours.
I'm not saying he's fine. I'm not saying he's not concussed. I'm just saying the level of talking down your nose confidence on the subject from a great distance is hilarious.

I'd prefer to keep him out of the season finale as well, as previously stated by Resolute above, I can see Lucic and Kassian running around trying to hit any Flames player in the vicinity.

There's zero benefit for Peter's to be lying and to play him in the regular season.

If the trainers say he is OK, then he's OK. He probably wanted to finish the game but they told him no.
Remember, this staff held him out to recover properly for an alleged shoulder injury, while he was raring to come back. Treliving was having a laugh about getting the "stink-eye" from Sam for three days over it, profanity-laced conversations and all.

There is a ton if benefit to not revealing thr nature of an injury a week out from the playoffs.
Coaches do this all the time. It's one of the most common jokes on this board.
Peters would be an idiot not to.
I'm not diagnosing a concussion from 2000km away. I'm saying it's dumb to take Peters at his word on this as Bennett was clearly injured enough not to return to the game, and just missed 7 of his last 8 due to 'upper body injury'.
Peters in my estimation would also be an idiot if Bennett saw a minute of regular season ice between now and the playoffs. Conference is clinched, Bennett is still obviously going to be nursing the original 'upper body injury' that saw him miss a few weeks of action before getting back into the lineup over the weekend.
I mean, he's already being ruled out of the Anaheim game? That's 50% of the games!
What are we even talking about here anymore?
Call up lomberg and hope Bennett is ready for game 1.

Why would we call up Lomberg for 1 game? Czarnik can just take Bennetts spot or let the line shuffle continue.

There is nothing obvious about this. In point of fact Bennett's play in yesterday's game would suggest pretty strongly that he was just fine.
As for your judgement of Coach Peters's intelligence on the basis of whether or not he decides that Bennett will play in the season finale, I would suggest that a very good reason for a player to skate a few shifts in an actual game can be beneficial leading into the playoff when he has played only part of one game in the last eight.

So you agree that it would not be beneficially to play Bennett if he was injured in anyway.
So you think it's a bluff by Peter's? No one would blink if he said hes going to sit for precautionary reasons. But if he thinks he can play, there's zero reason to suggest that he is anything but healthy.

His actual words were: "fierce opinions."
Not pronouncements of certitude. People have opinions based on what they saw and what we've been told after the fact.

I think 70% of what a coach tells you about the wellbeing of a player is misdirection at any given point in the year. It's a physical league and injured players will be targeted. Makes perfect sense.
At this time of year, I think 147% of what a coach tells you about the health of a player is pure Spruce Meadows grade horse####.
I did not realize this was a controversial opinion.
Absolutely people would Blink if he left the game after taking a huge hit and didn't return for the third period (aka, was evaluated between periods and was not cleared to come back) and then you said "oh it's precautionary".
It's no surprise peters said he's fine, and it's no surprise 14 hours later he says Bennett won't be in against Anaheim.

Hopefully he is all right. When the answer to the question "how many fingers am I holding up?" is "cinnamon", a few days rest may be in order.
