It's funny how mid season a few teams in the top 8 had negative goal differential. Look at it now, works to a T. Only team advanced stat I look at.

Take out the top 4 d men and they hardly miss a beat. Safe to say that the 9th guy on this years depth chart is a lot better than Brennan Evans.
Jankowski might be the best rec league player in the league.

I thought Valimaki looked head and shoulders better than the other D auditioning for that #6 spot. So solid defensively, super poised with the puck. He's gonna be an absolute stud for a long time and if it was just based on today, Valimaki's dressing for game 1.

Goal differential isn't an advanced stat. And it doesn't work to a T - there are plenty of teams in recent history that have made the playoffs with a negative goal differential, and plenty that miss with a positive one.

If you look at the 8 teams in the West in a playoff position, I'd have guessed at the beginning of the year, those would probably be the 8. The only minor surprise is the Flames - just how far ahead we are.
