Forty Creek 40 double barrel reserve here. Nothing fancy but damn tasty.

Hell of a season. Lots of hockey left to play though.

Go Flames Go!

Lagavulin 16 for CaptainYooh here.

Congratulations, CP'ers! Cheers to all. Let's enjoy this moment.

Us peasants have to resort to Glenlivet 12. Followed by a shot of Alberta Premium.

A nice dram nonetheless, for the price.

Does anyone know when pre sale is for playoff tickets?

When listening to pundits pontificate on the playoffs, I keep reading about how San Jose and Vegas are dangerous. Vegas is supposed to be the team to beat in the west. St Louis is a team "no one wants to face". San Jose was getting all kinds of adulation when they had won 7 straight, and Winnipeg and Nashville are top teams and still favorites despite recent struggles.

Calgary is leading the West by EIGHT points and have goal differential that's THIRTY goals better than second place Winnipeg.
Boston and Toronto apparently are the second and third best teams in the league and it's a shame they're facing each other in the first round.

Only 7 teams in the last ten years have had a better goal differential. That puts Calgary in the top 8 of 302 teams for goal differential (assuming it doesn't drop significantly in the last 3 games).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard anyone talk about them as a favorite to win the West even, nevermind the Cup
It's really incredible.

I always imagined this day, when the team would be heralded for its arrival to elite status and one of the most promising teams north of the border, capturing the west and ready to make a push for the cup. But astoundingly, they're still as low-key, if not borderline invisible as they were when they were a bubble team for many, many years.

I think it's cause half the country is just caught up (or enamored) in talking about the Tavares/Matthews Maple Leafs.

It will take a deep run to get the national recognition the team deserves.

That's what did it for the Jets last season, that's what did it for the Flames back in '04, and that's what it will take now.

Teams like Edmonton and Toronto for whatever damn reason just get salivated over before they've accomplished anything, as befuddling as it is. Calgary will have to earn all of its praise outside S.AB, and then some.

Is there such thing as a "quiet" Cup? We'll find out I guess.

Funny, I was about to post a very similar post, although you looked up the goal differential bit before I looked it up.

Not only is our goal differential elite, as you pointed out, so is our possession game. In our last 22 games we've posted a score-adjusted 5-on-5 Fenwick of 58.06% with three games to go.

What other playoff-qualifying teams have exceeded the 56.5% FF mark over their final 25 regular season games in the last decade?

2017-18 - No One
2016-17 - No One
2015-16 - L.A. Kings (57.44%) - Lost 1st Round to San Jose Sharks (54.52%, went on to the SCF)
2015-16 - Pittsburgh Penguins (56.66%) - Won Stanley Cup
2014-15 - No One
2013-14 - L.A. Kings (58.39%) - Won Stanley Cup
2012-13 - Chicago Blackhawks(56.53%) - Won Stanley Cup
2011-12 - L.A. Kings (59.31%) - Won Stanley Cup
2010-11 - No One
2009-10 - Chicago Blackhawks (58.83%) - Won Stanley Cup
2008-09 - Washington Capitals (57.01%) - Lost Game 7 of 2nd Round to Pittsburgh (who won the Cup)

That's it. While it's no guarantee of a Cup, it's definitely good company to be in.

Notable (realistic) markers left:

Gaudreau 100 points - needs 4 points in 3 GR (will he do it?)
Lindholm 80 points - needs 2 points in 3 GR
Tkachuk 80 points - needs 3 points in 3 GR

There’s only one more thing I want this season: on April 6th I want as many of our stars rested as possible. I then want the Flames to beat the piss out of the Oilers with our B squad.

Of course, it’s win-win because I don’t care if they lose every game from here on out, but man that would be sweet and I think it’s very possible.

If you haven't tried Oban, I recommend it.

Really, really starting to like Anderson. Thinks the game at an elite level.

Peters' post-game comments really sum up what this team is about, and how great of a leader Gio is. This is a special group this year. Here's hoping for a nice long playoff run this spring, and possibly more.

I love this team!

Here's one of the Prout post game interviews. He's a great speaker, and seems like a really intelligent leader for this team:

Man what a team! What a year!

This was probably the hardest week I've had in a long while with a close relative passing away last Monday. She was a life long Flames fan, along with nearly everyone in our extended family. So while we had time to be with family and reflect for the last couple days, we sat down today and watched this historic Flames win together. Lots of tears, lots of love, and a lot of joy tonight.

Thank you Calgary Flames.

What an amazing trip:

- Flames lose to Dallas but I win $200 at Stampede Casino to pay for the night at the game (gives them a kick in the butt to step up in the last 5 games)
- Friday Flames demolish Anaheim, go to the game with 7 friends and family, get loaded and go to Stampede, between me and my uncle we win $800
- Saturday celebrate my moms 60th birthday with a party with all of our closest family and friends
- Sunday family dinner, Flames win the Conference, me and my uncle take home another 7K from stampede casino

Its been a slice Calgary, back to Toronto tomorrow.

GO FLAMES GO!

Yay!!!!!!! Division champs and home advantage for three rounds! Not to mention they did it by smashing the Sharks in their barn. Whatever happens in the playoffs this is still one of the funnest Flames seasons ever.

Also random stat this is the first time the Flames have won an 8 team division. The 80s wins were in the 5 team Smythe division, the 90s wins were in the 6 team Pacific division, and the 00s win was in the 5 team North West division.

Macindoc has had Flames ranked #2 at best chance to win the Cup for pretty much the last half of the season.
The clowns on TV, probably not.
