Is anybody voting for the Alberta party because they actually like the platform? I’d be curious how many people are voting for the Alberta party because they don’t like the other options. Seams like we get a lot of Alberta Party votes by default in this thread. I should start a party with a slogan “not the other guys”.

That's my though process too. It's not likely to succeed, but if we have a third viable option, it will likely pull the other two back toward the centre.

Also, it will be funny when Mandel loses his seat but Clark wins his.

Matt Jones has replaced the other failed 'star' female UCP candidate in Calgary Southeast:

I don't really know the guy, but I crossed paths with him at Haskayne years ago and recall him being sharp. He has a CFA as well - I've always thought we need more finance guys in government and less lawyers.

I do like their carbon tax plan over the others, their vaccination stance, ID card, healthcare, and some of their budgeting. On balance I don't see anything a lot better or worse than the other parties.

She hasn't hit everyone yet, but she's working her butt off to get to as many doors and talk to as many people as possible.

She's a really great candidate, qualified candidate, (She's a lawyer at an Energy Company). I'm obviously a pretty strong supporter, and I would invite you to check out her website.

That's the end of my plug!
She lives down the block from me. She's also got 4 kids. I don't know how that woman does it.

Have they explained how they plan to pay for all these promises?

Cause I actually like a lot of their ideas as well, but like other parties, I highly doubt they have a fiscal plan that could possibly afford everything when reality strikes.

We are facing a major financial crisis in this province if the debt doesnt start getting dealt with. Ive seen this movie before here, and the only way out is austerity to a degree most would hate, or even more taxation that whomever is in power would undoubtedly spend on things they shouldn't be and we are right back to square 1.

He's going up against Rick Fraser, who seems to be really popular with the constituents in this riding. Uphill battle for Jones, I could see this riding sticking with Fraser and the AP.

Well I haven't seen much fiscally form the other parties either that land in the realm of reality. UCP is counting on GDP growth to pay for theirs, which is always a dubious gamble, and the NDP, well...mostly just a repeat of the past few years. So it's a bit of a wash.

AP fiscal plan should be coming out in the next couple of days, I believe. Chatted with an AP member recently.

Also, Kara Levis had run for the AP leadership, but did lose to Mandel. For the record, she was/is a lawyer at TransCanada, and is a solid proponent of getting pipelines built.

She is an excellent candidate, please very much consider voting for her.

"An environment that shut up survivors and others. NDAs And fear kept people silent. All controlled by the premiers office."

"Deron Bilous shouldn't be allowed within 20 feet of a woman."

Not sure how trustworthy this is, but it's being alleged that the Premier's office is covering up allegations of serious sexual harassment and abuse of power by MLAs Bilous and Kleinsteuber and staffer Brian Stokes.

Wasn't there something a while back about a couple MLA's being investigated for sexual harrassment within the NDP caucus but they were nt going to be named and it was to be handled "internally"?

I remember I thought it odd that something possibly criminal was being handled with such cryptic and non-transparent gloves by the party. This was also when #metoo was out of control IIRC, so maybe that had some bearing on things.

Yeah, that doesn't look good. Hope some more truths come out about this, could be damaging to the NDP if true.

That said, wondering why this was not brought to light sooner if the author received DM's months ago.

Caylan Ford on with Danielle Smith the last 20 minutes or so....making a very good case for "their are 2 sides to this story"....though (and i may have missed it) no admission or contextualizing of what she said in those tweets or whatever they were.(facebook?)

I would expect this be up on podcast if anyone wants to listen. Pretty interesting stuff.

Yeah there was definitely something about this and it was quietly swept under the rug. It's concerning that these issues linger with no names or seemingly no repercussions, and meanwhile these same people can campaign today and say how progressive they are.

Yeah, just listened to the whole thing. Unbelievable yet very believable sequence of events. This Karim guy seems like a peach (psycho).

What happened to her was a goddamn shame. I think the should have staid and fought against the accusations IMHO.

She seems like an extremely intelligent and well-spoken person, and we need more people like her in public life, not less.

I implore anyone who cares about public discourse or about democracy in any amount to give the whole interview a listen. It really was pretty riveting with lots of meat to gnaw on and then the ending was unreal.

It won't change many minds im sure, but holy smokes does it bring some perspective to things. Nothing more than the role of "media" in some situations and the contrast of how women can be treated by that said media.

I'd really like to know the guys whole name and see someone do some investigating into him. What a freaking creep if allegations are true (and i certainly believe her) and sounds like multiple criminal behaviour incidents.

This is the riding where the UCP replaced Caylan Ford, although I've seen a lot of signs for them also.

The other is the aforementioned Elbow. I think that's going to be tight as Clark has a good presence, but there are some pockets I was passing through that seem solidly UPC.
In Sunalta (Calgary-Currie riding) the sign count is heavily favoring NDP. I've seen one UCP sign compared with about 30-40 NDP signs. 338 has the riding as "likely NDP" so that makes sense. The Alberta Party candidate has been campaigning hard in the area but we haven't heard a peep from the UCP candidate.

I only caught a little bit of the Smith interview and thought it was Eva Kiryakos. Makes way more sense as Ford. I always thought Ford was treated a bit rough and needed more context.
