Denis up two breaks now and barring a disaster, a third set will be required.

Double break set 2!
I wasn’t sure to include the Tiafoe looks fatigued comment after set 1, since I haven’t seen him play a bunch, but he definitely seems to be unable to match Shapovalov right now.

Frances handed Shapo the second break but it looks like he's about to take it back on the strength of a very good return game and some bad luck with the net cord.
EDIT: Spoke too soon.

Tiafoe gutted out that game but he's really lost his rhythm on serve, hey? Looked like he missed about 5 or 6 first serves in a row, and nearly double faulted into a break point but kept his second serve in for about 3mm.

Looks like a MTO for Tiafoe with Shapo serving for the 2nd set at 5-4

Big moment, Denis needs to hold here to avoid setting up the worst collapse of his career... so Tiafoe takes a MTO for someone to spray his foot. Annoying. Does he have a history of this?
Denis with the ace to hold at love.

No, I think it's legit - Frances is a straight shooter. Game and second set Shapovalov 6-4. Here we go.

Wowza, sweet hands by Shapo at the net and then Tiafoe nets a pretty easy shot and Denis gets the break.

Gah. Denis with a break to go up 2-1 and I didn't see it because my stream is now spending considerably more time buffering than actually showing me anything.

Denis to serve for the match. Tiafoe looks done... but I have a hard time saying that with certainty given the momentum swings in this match.

Tiafoe gave a good last gasp there, but Shapo saves the break point and converts on his first match point opportunity. Overall a pretty good match from Denis. A lull in the middle, but the first half of set 2 was very good tennis from him. Some great shots hit at net. Frankly, I thought he was a bit unlucky on the whole in the rallies, as a good half dozen of his relatively few unforced errors were an inch or less from the line. But Tiafoe played pretty well, just a bit more run down by the course of the tourney it seemed like.
Meanwhile, Anderson now back on serve in set 2, somehow. I guess showing up an hour late is better than not showing up at all.

What a surreal month for Canadian tennis. We’ve already had a teenage woman win a 1000 tournament, and now 2 teenage men in the semis of a 1000 tournament! Shapovalov-Federer will be a visually stimulating match at the very least, especially for the fan of the one-handed backhand.
