it seems like if they played with the same hunger and intensity the whole game as they did for the last 3 minutes, outside of monahan's pivotal faceoff losses, they might have had a good chance of scoring another goal that game

The concern is that if the 1st line doesnt figure it out quickly we become first round fodder to someone like Colorado

isn't a recent slump, this has been since the all star break

Geoff Ward on the Fan saying they aren't desperate enough to score goals. Sounds like the coaches see the issues we do. I trust them.

Didn't realize that Dallas has best defence in league (GA). Silver lining of losing is that we won't match up against them round 1.

In the last 24 games, Sean Monahan has 4 goals. That's a 13-goal trend.

Elias Lindholm has 6 goals in his last 26 games. So does Gaudreau. That's an 18-goal trend.

That's not even close to acceptable, and it's becoming a pattern.

Too little too late, obviously, but what the heck was Monahan doing on those face offs at the end? How do you lose 4 in a row.

On the plus side the whole Western conference is a giant tire fire right now. So Calgary’s seeding and matchup should still be favourable. Hard not to think the best teams are in the East this year though.

Wonder why you wouldn't use Lindholm for faceoffs with his 54.5% fo rating?

I had to check if my NHL app notifications had been turned off. Nope the Flames just can’t score.

Meh. The Flames have little to play for a the moment with the playoffs clinched and a big division lead. I’m confident they’ll flip a switch when it matters.

Dallas is playing desperate. You are not. That’s how you lose 4 draws in a row

It’s not acceptable.

The coaches have work to do

I'm actually more concerned about Huska's PK. It doesn't matter who is in net, which D are on the ice, or which forwards are on the ice, our PK just continues to find ways to get scored on or become a 5v3. The wierd part is that while last year's passive Stajan-Brouwer PK was easy to point to as the whole problem, this year every breakdown is so unique that it's baffling, and my eyes tell me it's not the personnel or the basic strategy - it's just a sheer lack of cohesiveness. Maybe guys are gambling too much for shorties?

Silver lining is the Flames likely don’t have to play the Stars with their win as they look almost uncatchable based on their strength of schedule and advantage on the tie break.

Ha. Doesn't matter who they play in the first round right now. Play like this and you won't win.

Simple answers: they've done nothing, and they've gotten worse. And both of those need to change, stat.

I don't care about losing a game 2-1, but for God's sake, at least put some effort into it.

Frankly im not that disappointed. Dallas winning keeps them up on the Avs for the first wild card. Who would you rather see the Flames face in the first round? Stars or Avs? Ill take the Avs

Absolutely. He is playing bad. But he’s not a bad player like the poster I originally quoted had said.

He’s going to finish around 80 points for the season. Bad players don’t do that.

I hate to admit it, but the Flames play of late has me in a foul mood. Sports shouldn't have the power to wreck my mood on a daily basis, but sadly it has. I need to try stepping back from the team but I'm pretty sure I'll be unable.

Rant over.

Neal was one of our better players today and probably deserved more icetime. Very hard on the puck and was shooting pretty dangerously.
