Does anyone else see a big problem with this?

I know this system will save lives, but will it cause problems too?

How far do we have to go for "good" technology to protect us from ourselves? Will they have cars tell us we're too tired to drive? Falling asleep at the wheel is 2nd (1st?) in highway deaths. Maybe they'll have something to shut down your vehicle when you have road rage?

I'm not a conspiracist, but you do have to wonder how far technology goes to save us from ourselves.

That will be lots of fun if the driver don't make it across say, the railroad tracks.

Interesting way to react when its clear you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

You obviously don't think you deserved the 24 hour suspension but obviously you displayed some indictia, regardless of the roadside read out to lead the cop to believe that you should not be driving. What you have to understand is that police, in that situation, have a responsiblity to ensure everyone else on that road will not be hit, killed, etc by someone they suspect has had a few drinks. It wasn't a conspiracy. It wasn't the man coming down on you.

I thought I presented the case quite well. What exactly was childish about it?

these things happen, cops overreact. sucks.

it's your statements that are ridiculous here. the traffic code etc. means crap to many cops, it's quite ugly.

in BC i also had my car towed for not having insurance, the cop was simply misreading my alberta insurance papers. i showed up to court and the judge was snowed out, cop there said it was all ok, i got into flack later for not showing up, had to go through all kinds of loops.

you should take a big bite out a sandwich of reality before you accuse me of thinking everything's 'a conspiracy' against me.

Haha... you don't like be called out do you... having to explain yourself.

The traffic code? What is that?

It's very clear that its like the wild west out there... cops totally disregard things such as municipal bylaws, provinicial statutes and something called the Criminal Code... happens all the time.

OK guys. Let's debate the issues without the name calling.

We are all adults here, and this is obviously a sensitive topic. There have been a lot of good points, let's keep the discussion rolling.

I can see it being useful for someone with a drinking problem, but not to put it on every car. There will be a lot of inventions coming down the pipe that have the ability to invade our rights. It's best to keep on guard and not accept everyone of them just because we can and seem cool.

and that gives any and all restrictions a carte blanche. Not in my world.

and in our society, I'm not admitting it isn't a right.

How can it be a right? If it was a right, you wouldn't need a licence, you couldn't loose it for failing to comply with laws, you couldn't loose it for poor health.

It is not a right as much as we all wish it was, including myself.

You didn't, but this is what this technology is, enforcement.
