Dude....no kidding. Like BBS said, I spent many an evening chasing women and acting like a jagoff with 30 other twits in that place. One year they even gave us all VIP cards....but never again for some odd reason. We had a touring side in from Scotland one year, and we hit the joint up to see C n C music factory. The lead singer invited all of us on stage (half of which were wearing kilts) to sing along with her. After one song, she tried to get us off stage, which is MUCH easier said than done. 30 drunk scots and 30 drunk billets harassing the band until getting pushed off by a team of doormen, all the while lifting their kilts and flashing the crowd. Good times indeed...

Holy crap - spent way too many nights there... although looking back on how much fun we had there I regret nothing!
We used to do Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday there every week from 19 - 22. Hehe, even when we weren't going out we'd just go down, stroll through, grab some pizza, and leave...
Stags, Cabs, work things, birthdays, concerts, stampede.. Ah the alcohol fueled amnesia I experienced there! What a place
Sure I go there now and think "oh what a dump" but that place used to be where we'd go and always know everyone. One section is where we'd always hang out, always see people, and it lasted 4 years.. Haha..
I'll need to find out what's going on with it for myself, I'd hate to miss out on the last night.. Although I'm sure I'd hear something and my friends would be out in a large contingent

Only went there a couple times, but one night stood out. I LOVE Halloween, and have some nasty masks/get ups. Went one year for a bit (we were on a tour of about a dozen different clubs) and my reception was awesome. Did a "Predator" costume. Scared the crap out of anyone that didn't see me until the last minute.
One bartender waived me over to sneak under the bar and scare the crap out of one of the female bartenders. She freaked out pretty good.
They had a photographer there that was taking pics of the better costumes. She called me over and took a couple dozen shots. Left shortly after for another club, so I never did find out if I won best costume! Didn't matter. I had fun.
Edit... wish I had a pic of that costume.... only have one of me as Diablo another year...

This is true. Cowboys will be around in this location for a while. The office developer was making a push for a 2 million sq ft project. I think in the hopes of luring a big-time tenant like EnCana or Imperial Oil. Well with EnCana building their own building and Imperial now in the planning stages of doing the same thing themselves, the developers of Penny Lane have had to re-think their project.
There was an article in the herald a few weeks ago saying that it was going back to the design stage to put together a new smaller project. This will take a while. by the time they get it going, they may well have missed the boat on this round of office boom and other projects like First Canadian Centre II, City Centre, Imperial and others will take up the demand.
I would miss the friendly facade of penny lane. It is a welcome precence in downtown. Cowboys building, I don't care.

aaaahhhh cowboys! what a beautiful place! being only 19 i still visit there at least every other week for the infamous 25 cent draft... that will make you feel like balls the next day.
One of my funnier memories was with a fellow poster here, J pold, we were on the dance floor, and he was grinding with some fatty mcnasty for a while, then i looked over to see he was making out with her vigorously, after about 5 minutes of that we left the dance floor and he said "Guy that was dece, but we bumped teeth and she blead in my mouth for about 2 minutes" HAHAHA
Chalk me up in the group that heard the rumour about it taking over the crack alley

I don't post much but does anyone else take offence to this? There have been a couple race related comments by this guy and I had to comment.

nah - not really.
the very fact that people get so uppity over racial coments, is exactly what gives them power.
there are real injustices in this world, i just can't be bothered to 'join the fight against hate speech', it is all a huge agenda-laden crapfest to outlaw free speech.
let idiots spew all the epithets they want and be shown for who they really are, and let a little comedy slip through the cracks. most of what people think is racism is just good-natured ribbing anyway, assuming everything is mean-spirited is a quick trip to a coronary.

i used to think it was a reference to 'quaker' but someone more in the know (a black guy) told me that it's a reference to whip-cracker.

Interesting explanation of cracker. Usually it's my gf who is cracking the whip in our relationship, I always thought she called me that because of my addiction to Stoned Wheat Thin crackers.
